So, as the season goes along they look at the empty seats and introduce offers, for the week-to-week punter, but when the renewals come round for the loyal, pay up front, STH, they take our continued support for granted, and FREEZE the already very high season ticket prices.

Sorry, but that's my season ticket money lost. I'm far better going when I fancy it, and not when I don't, without the hassle of trying to sell (that's a joke!) my ticket. If my son wants to come with me, I can get an extra ticket easily. I can sit in teh family stand and his ticket is 50p, I can get the cheap extra ticket through a STH when those games come around, and I can wave goodbye to the mad rush, and long evening of midweek games (I live and work in North Kent).

I see no advantage in buying a ST, that comes even close to justifying the expense. I'll still make plenty of games next season, home and away, I'll have greater flexibility, and I have a strong suspicion it will cost me significantly LESS.

You'll regret that when you can't get a ticket for a big cup game or the play-offs come the end of the season.

We have been at Withdean 10 years now-EVERY Albion fan should know why the prices are as they are. We can't be compared to other clubs' pricing structures because they don't have the same set of circumstances as us. It's no use moaning about it-we're stuck with the prices for 2 more years. If the price is too high for you-don't renew. Simple! Just don't come on here moaning when the club says we don't have any more money for new players.

I'm a STH and would love it if prices were lower-however, I know why they can't be.

All very valid points and an argument I have deployed every since up until, but the difference this season is that the economy is f**ked and lots of people have lost their jobs or are looking over their shoulder in case they might lose them soon, and asking them to shell out the best part of £500 to watch Div 3 football is a big ask in this environment.

I fully appreciate the constraints that the club have been working under which is why in happier times I have understood why we have paid over the odds for this level of football and facilities. However the squeeze has now spread to the fans as well as the club and I do feel this should be taken into account. It's all fine if you are under 21 or have a family package but for those left in the middle paying full whack season in season out this does seem like a bit of snub.

Next seasons prices at other League 1 Clubs?

Leyton Orient:

Cheapest adult season ticket: £200.
Most expensive: £325.

Carlisle:

Start at £35 for kids, £185 for pensioners and £260 for adults.

Walsall:

Early bird option for £325 which includes first home cup game.

Stockport:

Early bird for £264.

Its inevitable that ours will be alot higher that theres im afraid

Meopham, Kent.
We (the company I work for) put our prices up in December by an average of 7% across our range of products.

Customers had a moan until it was explained to them that our costs had risen because in order for us as a company to continue being there when they needed us an increase was necessary because our costs had risen significantly.

A recession does not necessarily mean prices HAVE to drop. In fact the opposite is often the case-do you think The Albion's operating costs have dropped because of "the recession"?

Don't get me wrong-I would love my ST price to drop but it never will. I have 2 choices: pay up or cancel. You have the same choices.

In this business though, it's supply and demand, with a crucial factor being the marginal cost of selling an additional unit. Our operating costs will be very similar whether playing to 3,500 or 7,000, they certainly wouldn't double, so you need to look at the elasticity of demand. My view is that a smallish price reduction, say 10%, would have had a greater affect in numbers buying seats.

We earn nothing from an empty seat, but staging the event has cost us no less for having it empty.

Its funny, 2 years ago was the first time I didnt have a season ticket in years. I was away for half a year the year before and when I came back, i could tickets for £10 a game, at most £15. It was cheaper to get tickets than a season ticket, but hassle to get one

I got a season ticket last season, but even the Stockport game when it was "sold out" there were tickets going for cheap. Had 5 tickets on offer to me, of which one was face value, the rest were £15 and two were free

I think the club know it is not going to make people happy, other wise they would have a story on the official website about "SEASON TICKET PRICES FROZEN" as a main story like other clubs. Instead you find a one liner about the price halfway through a story about a brand new ticket system used by Premier League clubs

Do you honestly think that the club would not have thought of that already and still come to an informed decision?

I was ver tempted to buy a season ticket this year but as I work on some Saturdays (I know it will be sods law that it will fall on a home game) Im not going to have any beneift of getting one!

You can always get a ticket cheaper than normal price anyway so I'll stick to picking and choosing the games I want to go to or can get to!

Possibly.

But then Stockport are SKINT and Orient play to fewer people.

If you are looking at athletics tracks etc, Rotherman in the league below play at a council owned stadium and they have season tickets (albeit for the league below) for just over £300.

Blackpool, with higher running costs in the league above, and similar gates / number of season ticket holders to us, are charging drastically less than us.

If we start well and play decent football, hopefully that will not be the case this season. There are plenty of fairweather fans lurking.

Even in the Wilkins season I was able to get tickets for the games I wanted to at a much cheeper rate.

I may possibly get one near xmas when I wouldnt have to pay for it!

But then Stockport are SKINT

As are Carlisle. Their £280 pound season ticket obviously worked:thumbsup:

Stockport-£253 S.Ticket. Broke

Bournemouth: £247-Broke

Charlton: £290-Broke despite parachute payments.

Just a few examples.

Off the top of my head, I would guess that a 10 per cent reduction in season ticket prices would achieve at best a 5 per cent increase in sales of season tickets.

4,000 season tickets @ an average price of £400 brings in £1,600,000
4,200 season tickets @ an average price of £360 brings in £1,512,000

You'd have to increase sales by at least 11.1 per cent to be better off from a 10 per cent price reduction.

I'm afraid this line of thinking is starting to grate with me a little now. BHAFC is not a registered charity as far as I am aware and I do not think that it is reasonable for them to continue to take advantage of supporters who have in the past dug very deep into their pockets to overpay for football at this level. For a club of our status to have the 19th most expensive ST in the country when we are in a deep recession is ridiculous.

As I explained in earlier posting I am all too aware of why the prices have been as they are, BUT the situation is a lot different for fans now as many futures are uncertain, and the club have not recognised this and to be honest it stinks.

I am a STH have been since season two at Withdean, I shall be thinking very carefully about my options once the renewal letter drops through my door.

Our per match price as a Sth Std STH is around £18.50 which isn't too bad. Get a crap pizza from Domino's and it's not much less than that...
