Ordered 2 just over a week ago from HMV - have checked on the site and it says "Some / all items have been placed on special order with our suppliers" - does this mean they have run out? Am I going to get a copy? Will the extra 1000 result in my very own copy?

Bet this doesn't happen to STHs!

I preordered through Amazon in the middle of December. When I checked my account today it said they were preparing it for dispatch - so basically it is on the way. My guess is that the online orders were far in excess of the actual amount of stock the companies ordered, and hence the delay.

Yes, they have run out at both HMV and Amazon; good news that they're selling well, bad news that they won't be restocked till the extra 1000 arrive next week, too late for current orders to count for next week's chart. A pity 'cos we're at 43,
only 100 or so away from the 40, and would definitely be higher if Amazon/HMV could ship this week. But there are still a few hundred in the shops which are stocking them: if these go in the next couple of days we could still creep in to the lower end of the chart....
What I don't understand is how orders put in 2 weeks ago haven't arrived yet.
All seems a bit haphazard to me. I shall get clarification from the top bod at HMV Online tomorrow.

All seems a bit haphazard doesn't it - although it must be said that the majority have obviously gone when they should have done. I just spoke to Jason, head of marketing at HMV Retail. He says that it will have been put up as deleted or unavailable because they have no definite stock delivery date from Vital the distributors (due to the repress, which will arrived sometime next week) but that doesn't explain why copies ordered a week or more ago haven't arrived....

I pointed out that with continuing national media coverage and an (albeit short) bit on TOTP we need at least for people to be able to order them, albeit with a delay notification as per Amazon. Jason gave me the number of the head honcho for HMV Online. I shall talk to him shortly.

As mentioned before I shall be taking 150 copies to cover the £600 recording/publicity costs I've already paid out and I think now's the time to get them on my online shop at Townsend Records (which is a chart return outlet too)

Just tried HMV Epsom a few mins. ago following an order put in several days ago and it's showing deleted.

Atilla, can you get your man to send out an E-Mail to all his stores advising him of the deluge of Albion up and down the country who want this single and for it to climb the charts. The "deletion" line is serving effectively to undermine the Falmer campaign at the moment, so it has to be a priority.
