Cash-strapped Brighton and Hove Albion was counting the cost today after the club's merchandise shop was broken into.

Police have launched an investigation after the shop in Queen's Road, Brighton was broken into in the early hours of today.

Residents alerted police at around 1.30am after hearing breaking glass.

When officers arrived they discovered that a glass panel in the front door had been smashed.

Witnesses described two teenagers aged around 17 years old, one wearing a Crystal Palace top and one wearing Stockings & Suspenders, running off with clothing, believed to be official Albion 'Skint' branded football shirts.

PC Ben Vatnsdal said: "It is likely that this clothing will turn up in some south london pub and will be sold for LARGE amounts of cash. If anyone has any information, please contact me on 0845 60 70 999 or email ben.vatnsdal@sussex.pnn.police.uk Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. Your call is free and you could be entitled to a reward.

Due to the losses sustained at the break in of our shop we have reluctantly had to increase the price of season tickets by an average 15% but to compensate the increase we have given STH 1 ticket to watch Whitehawk or Worthing at home next season................................................................I wonder!!!

The stuff is not worth a lot anywhere other than locally so everybody should be on the lookout for peopler suddenly appearing in BHA strip
