Seagulls over London with Reidy and Hinsh – this Thursday!

The next meeting of Seagulls over London will be held this Thursday, 29th March, starting at 7.30pm. Apologies for the short notice, but arrangements have only just been confirmed.

Guests on the night will be Paul Reid and Paul Hinshelwood -- two players who, for their very different reasons, are desperate to get out on the Withdean pitch as soon as possible. They will be stewarded as ever by the indomitable Matt Hicks.

With the cricket season fast approaching, I understand Paul Reid will be especially delighted to talk to us about the finer points of a game which so often leaves the English scratching their heads in bewilderment. It's even worse for their fans...

SoL background
If you live or work in the capital, you’ll get a lot from joining Seagulls over London. It’s an opportunity to hear about all things Albion, from the inside. A chance to meet other Seagulls fans and talk about the things that really matter – like whether the average Falmer resident really has what it takes for a career in sweeping roads and flipping burgers.

We normally meet on the third Thursday of every other month and the venue is the Royal Oak, Tabard Street (nearest tubes London Bridge and Borough). And just to make you feel at home, it sells Harvey’s. SoL membership will cost you a hefty fiver a year. That’s right. Five Quid. No increase in subs since 1921.

Kick-off on the night is at 7.30pm. We’re expecting a lively evening and a very healthy turnout, so get there early.

Okay, okay, so we all know that, however attractive I try to make these meetings sound, it's only the same people that ever turn up.

But this thread has had to be rescued from page 4! For heaven’s sake, NSC, show some interest - if only to please the two Pauls' mums. Reply, you bastards, reply!!

I went. Stories: Dean Hammond is their own player of the season. Guy Butters is hugely respected, a genuine inspiration to the younger pros. Joel Lynch and Dean Cox are major talents. The Stoke 1-5 defeat last year was Reidy's personal nadir. Bas is a great character.

Dressing room spirit is excellent. Dean Wilkins is well respected. Both players' favourite away game ever was the Palace 0-1 away victory. Reidy aims to be back and playing before the season ends, loves Brighton and wants to stay here as long as possible. The Hinshelwoods regards themselves as a 100% Brighton family now, despite their Palace history.

Supporters can make a huge difference to the team - Selhurst last year being the best example of that. Booing - while understandable - never helps performances.

Oh, and Paul Hinshelwood reads NSC and is looking out for these pictures. His mum liked the last set of him and Adam.

Abort, retry, fail
Cheers Gulliver and I hope you enjoyed yourself.

Nice to hear that spirits are high and they are seemingly enjoying themselves. Can't wait for Reidy to get back to full fitness :clap2:

Did Paul Hinshelwood say anything about his lack of first team appearances? It must be quite frustrating when you see your fellow 'classmates' playing in the first team.

I honestly hope Paul Hinsh gets a go at RB, I think he would be really solid. Looks like he ha filled out a bit since I last saw him to.

He is ambitious, certainly, but content to wait his turn. He waxed lyrical about recent reserve performances though!!

So he should. The reserves have been excellent and Fish was definitely my MOM in the game against Bognor in the Sussex Senior Cup.

im surprised you stayed awake long enough to have a MOM, that was possibly the worst game of football id ever seen, i was all set to go home, then stuart tuck condemed everyone to another half an hours worth!!

he played well against QPR too, but the defence didnt really need to do much

It was a drag but the penalties made up for it. My whole point was that Fish shone out as playing well amongst the poor performances of the others.
