The next meeting of Seagulls over London will be held this Wednesday, 19th September, starting at 7.30pm.

Star guest will be Albion Chief Executive Martin Perry. With Falmer in the bag, and new MD Ken Brown appointed to manage the club’s day-to-day business, Martin is now masterminding the exciting but complex task of delivering the Albion’s new home. He’ll be talking about his new role and will be happy to answer all those burning Falmer questions you thought you’d never, ever get to ask.

SoL background
If you live or work in the capital, you’ll get a lot from joining Seagulls over London. It’s an opportunity to hear about all things Albion, from the inside. A chance to meet other Seagulls fans and talk about the things that really matter – like whether Falmer’s predicted matchday menu of sushi, truffles and champagne will still be sold from old chip vans, to recreate that authentic, Fortress Withdean atmosphere.

We normally meet on the third Thursday of every other month and the venue is the Royal Oak, Tabard Street (nearest tubes London Bridge and Borough). And just to make you feel at home, it sells Harvey’s. SoL membership will cost you a hefty fiver a year. That’s right. Five Quid. No increase in subs since 1921.

Kick-off on the night is at 7.30pm. We’re expecting a lively and convivial evening. But seating is limited, so get there early!

Well?

What was said?

Not sure what I'm allowed to say, to be honest, but it was an excellent night, all in all. He's a funny man, lots of nice comedy anecdotes which cannot be repeated on here

He did give August 2010 as an optimistic moving in date - but admitted it was optimistic.

His 'list of things to do' weighs in at seven pages of A4, and it's very very complicated. But everyone's working their socks off.

1. Design

Stadium designs have moved on massively in last SEVEN years and the design needs to be reviewed. But it'll be brilliant, of course, with temperature technology etc in it. State of the art, but not OTT.

2. Money

Construction costs have gone up enormously over last seven years. Steel has doubled in price in last two years. Plus, of course, we'll be up against the Olympics ' construction team when it comes to buying everything.

We've already got a grant from CEDA, plus Football Foundation money. But we need to cover the rest. Big mortgage?

3. Legal agreements

Loads of these need to be sorted, but it's all par for the course and nothing to worry about.

4. Tender for builders

Then build the blasted thing!

I'm confident, after listening to him, that it's all gonna go pretty smoothly. He's been there, done it loads of times, and he will make sure that it becomes a reality.

Seeeeeaaaagulls!!

Nothing.

Some old bloke from Somerset glassed him and threw his expired AMS membership in his face.

Shoot!Somebody else from Somerset upset by this bloke, then.I joined the away scheme for life,of course,so since I'm still alive my membership hasn't expired.

Course,I do feel sympathy with ANYBODY who has been cheated by the arrogance of this money grabbing fraudulence.

How many people actually go to this meeting? Last one I attended there were about 15-20; is the club better doing a cyber meeting for more people, especially those that can't get to this or the ones in sussex?

They do do other meetings, mate, I think but not sure where. I obviously go to SoL occasionally cos it's in London. Probably about 15-20 of us there last night, not a bad turn out.

Cyber meeting might be an idea I suppose, but no Harveys that way! :drink:

About 20 or so last night. Credit to the club and those who work for it for coming up to the meetings, although obviously we are the cream of the Albion support...
