I attended Seagulls over London yesterday and came away thinking what a top bloke Paul Barber was.

I didn’t agree with everything he said but he didn’t shirk a question, much like how he replies to every email, and made me think how lucky we are to have so many great people running our club, bottle tops or no bottle tops...

There's a few rumours swirling he's the top target for The FA to replace the outgoing Martin Glenn.
Would be a massive loss for the club if Barber was to leave, especially given all the work he's down to date. Now Barber has been given the role of deputy chairman, the club have now offered Barber greater responsibility and autonomy at the club, so hopefully allowing him to continue his good work.

Ironically you are referring to the phrase Beyond the Pale. Pail is another word for bucket.

My current employer have the travel account for The FA and it was mentioned last week on a inspection trip that Paul Barber is 'being considered for Martin Glenn's replacement' by people at The FA.

Don't forget Barber used to work for The FA before his Spurs job as well.

I would be more than happy to buy him a one way ticket and give him a flask of tea and a capless Perrier and a shirt with a collar.

Should be a no brainer for him.
