Oh dear Charlie................ that will leave a LOT of fans disappointed

On the plus side however, Cardiff have officially released Healey...... in NSC's most time honoured phrase - could do a job???

Why have they used a picture, for an article called 'Albion in safe hands', from the heavyest defeat of the season, when Brez had a mare for the first?

I would be very surprised if we didn't sign a keeper - and that is being diplomatic

Whilst I would like to see a number 1 come into the club, I dont think its a priority for us. I think we lost more points this season from our attacking game rather than our defensive game.

If we are to improve on this season in any way shape or form, then a new keeper is vital. Too many goals conceded from long range shots by Ankergren that most keepers with slightly more agility would have got across too (Zaha and Murray at the Amex are the ones that spring to mind first, but there are plenty of others) and Brez was pretty solid when he came back, but still looks nervous and didn't keep his early form.

For a team with any serious designs on promotion next season, Brez and Casper are not good enough IMO.

Disagree there, think a keeper should be one of our top priorities

He can't exactly come out and say they're shit before we've got anyone else in can he? Especially when he hasn't spoken to Gus about it in any depth..

Really, had we had a half decent keeper we would have finished in the play offs. I think Ankergren and Brez cost us at least 15 points

Exactly what I was thinking. Bit of a non-story from the Argus to fill the back pages while we await some action in the transfer market.

Too many times home and away we just havent looked creative going forward. They have obviously cost us goals but in terms of points I think a lot of draws and even some losses would have been wins if we had more options upfront.

I dont think we look confident of scoring away from home. (although this could also be put down to Poyets tactics)

Something does need to change away from home, I think a lot of that is mentality and tactics as well as the need for more clinical finishing though.

Don't think we would have lost to Palace had we had a better keeper in as I don't think they would have let Zaha's shot in, so reckon we could have got away with a draw at least there, despite not deserving anything. Millwall away was another one that turned 3 points into 1. There are others that slip my mind too.

We scored the same number of goals at home as Reading, and only 6 teams scored more so don't think goalscoring at home was an issue, therefore it suggests something radical changed in attitudes from the home form to away form

Didnt whoever was in goal (cant remember which one) make a great save in that game aswell?

Edit: Millwall game, not Palace

Quite. It's a non-story, and Gus will DEFINITELY be looking for a new keeper.

Thing is, Gus can hardly come out and say "I will DEFINITELY be buying a new keeper this summer", because imagine the absolute SHITSTORM if he didn't manage to get one in?

Everyone's reading too much into it.

You could equally say if we had a half decent finisher we would've finished in the play offs. Defensively we were one of the best sides in the league.

Agree with those saying it's a fairly meaningless quote from Charlie. The fact that Gus tried out four different keepers last season tells its own story, I think.

Still think Gus will bring someone in, he knows it, the fans know it. There is no way we can contend for promotion next season with "flappy" Brez and "forgot where the goal is" Ankergren.
