[Travel] Seaford to Lewes trains replaced by buses for Ipswich game

Its 6 an hour, 2 trains an hour are reversing in Lewes platform 4, two an hour will reverse in platform 5 (ex-seafords), two an hour will be the usual Eastbourne/Ore, at least that is what is planned for tomorrow.
That's good to know. I guess the extra services weren't loaded into the national rail enquiries database when I looked. I suspected they wouldn't have enough capacity to turn 4 trains an hour at Lewes and run two Eastbourne services, but glad to be proven wrong.

In these circumstances it would be useful to have a 12 car platform length at Falmer to give the operational flexibility to run some maximum length trains between Brighton and Eastbourne if enough units are spare.
The back 7 cars wouldn't get on the platform at Lewes though so lead to long delays waiting for everybody to walk up 7 coach instead of the current 3

They are running as (Q) trains, 2L78-2L96, they are in there on Real Time Trains. Should all run.

I think the best solution is a Lewes remodelling.
I wonder what the cost to make platforms 3, 4 and 5 all 12 car length would be? I suppose if you timed it to coincide it with when the points at then junction to the east are life expired and need replacing anyway, that might keep the cost down. Then you've got the listed signal box that would almost certainly need moving. I guess you'd have to lose the southern siding too. Got to be talking over £20m for that scale of works.

I can't really see any beneficiaries other than the Albion either, so they'd surely be expected to finance the lion's share.

I'll be landing at Gatwick on Saturday morning at 11am after a holiday.
I'm sending my wife home from Gatwick to Bognor with our luggage. :ascarf:

Advice needed, is my best route on the train via Lewes or Brighton?
Jack has spoken though I’ve usually found Trainline gives me an up to date pic once I land at Gatwick. You’ll be fine at that time via either route imo

We drove to Lewes to catch the train from there, traffic gridlocked near the station and trying to get in the car park there didn’t look like a good idea. All other car parks were full up but managed to get a space on the street up near Homebase.
Getting on the train at Lewes station was the easy bit.
