He's better than Kuipers IMHO, but for a lot of people that wouldn't be enough.

It's all a matter of opinion isn't it and, for some reason which I don't understand, Kuipers seems to bring out extreme views for and against him.

Surely we can do better than Flinders if we are going to replace FDM? Where's the ambition? I think if some pro-Flinders people were to see replays of the games in which he played they would change their minds.

Let just settle this!
He is EX Palace if he did become good would you be able to take the constant jibes from those eagles?

We wouldn't still be in this division if it wasn't for a current Palace player. I'll accept the jibes as he is a better keeper than we have.

Maybe we could do better than FLinders, my point wasn't that Flinders was great, just that he was better than FDM, who I find unconvincing in everything except shot stopping. That's not an extreme view, I think he does a good job for us, but I don't think he's a Championship quality goalkeeper.

I think that Flinders has the makings of a very good keeper and would be pleased for him to come to us as No 1. I dont believe I could have been watching the same matches as everybody else because when he was here on loan I thought that generally he performed very well.

IMHO it is all down to whether or not we offer Sullivan a reasonable contract that he agrees to, if so all well and good let him fight FDM for No1 spot if not bring in Flinders.

I completely agree with you that FDM is not a Championship quality keeper.

It's just that, from what I saw when he was with us, I don't think Flinders is either. That was some time ago so what he is like now?

His playing record since he was with us doesn't suggest a player in great demand, but who knows? RS had him at Yeovil for a few weeks and then he went on loan to Blackpool where he didn't play at all! Then 9 games for Falkirk.

I'd just like to see someone with a more convincing record come to us.

Kuipers is a fantastic shot-stopper most of the time, but his tendency to spread panic among the defence with his poor kicking and indecision on crosses is a liability IMHO. Also, it was noticeable how often this season he would make a save and simply push the ball straight back into the danger area, quite often parrying efforts that he either should have held or pushed behind.

I remember Flinders as being much more commanding than Kuipers, and think he would be an excellent signing.

Incidentally, for all those who rate Kuipers as a cross between Gordon Banks, Peter Shilton and Dino Zoff, why is it EVERY Albion manager has looked for an alternative 'keeper? They can't all be wrong surely?

I actually think our current combination is exactly what we need: Kuipers an experienced veteran who loves the club, and Sullivan who this year, proved he can step in and hold his place if Kuipers gets injured, while also pushing him for the shirt. Sign Sullivan up for a few more years and I think over time he will become a very good first team keeper for us.

i liked him, especially as his name sounds a bit like 'fingers'

Can't believe it's up for debate. FDM is probably one of the best keepers in League One. His kicking has been exemplary this season so why are some muppet heads on here criticising him for it. Frankly Chech & Van der Saar have kicked far worse this season, but no-one critcises them for it.

True..since he came back from injury his kicking has been fine.it is no longer stopping at halfway and spinning back to our penalty box..its been getting to their penalty box so people cant want a new keeper on that basis
