Schevchenko - expensive DONKEY!

Cheesus! How awful is he, when he can barely run (lumber, more like), and misses sitter after sitter.
Brighton could probably buy a whole squad for what he cost, and pay the lot on his weekly wage - but he is an absolute donkey.

He makes Teddy Maybank look like Zidane.

Does anyone see anything redeeming about him??

To be fair, he is without any question one of the great strikers of the recent era. Shevchenko's problem is that he came to England too late. We may or may not have the best league in the world, but it is certainly the fastest - and he came here at a stage in his career when he had lost a bit of the pace that terrorised stingy Italian defences for years.

However, all that doesn't help Chelsea. They have made a terrible blunder paying as much as £30m for him. What they need to do now is get rid asap - what is stopping them, I imagine, is how much of a loss they will have to take, and as a consequence how stupid they will all look.

Could do a job in League One...

By the seaside in West Somerset
would struggle for pace in league 1 with the ball pinging over his head
could try Italy - serie C - Salelrnitana could use a partner for El Turo:D

This is certainly make or break season for him. But Drogba cost Chelsea £24mil, and in his first season was crap! Now he is arguably the best striker in the world, I wouldn't write Shevchenko off just yet

Didn't he miss the penalty which won the Cup for Liverpool too?

I can't help thinking that Mourinho is f***ing him around to prove a point to Abramovich if, as we are led to believe, the signing was at the 'request' of the owner.

Shevchenko is, on his day, an unbelievable player. If you pay £30m for someone you would think the team would be built around him - this is NOT the case at Chelsea.

A truly great player adapts to any style of football in any country.

As long as the team plays in such a way that the truly great player can perform with greatness, yes.

Drogba is clearly the main man at Chelsea and their style of play is geared around getting the ball to him in the way HE prefers, not Shevchenko.

Played for Ukraine against Italy mid-week, and apparently was superb. The English game just doesn't suit him
The last season before he left Milan he was not as affective as he looked like he was losing his pace, and that is even more clear in the Premiership than Serie A. Also to me he just looks dis-interested, clearly him and Mourinho don't get on, Mourinho almost certainly wasn't the man that wanted him, and his move was motivated more by the prospect of £130k a week more than any burning desire to play for Chelsea.

It is sad to see the once best striker in the world so reduced.
