Sorry if I've missed a thread, but what has happened to the lad?!

Navarro is named on the club site as the only player injured, and he is not even named in the ''subs from'' section on the club site. Even Poke is named on that list!

Hasn't Sandaza got a thigh prob that is nothing serious ?

He clearly hasnt impressed Poyet so far and none of us either I suspect

We need a striker in Jan.

We are walking a tightrope with what we have

With Baz and Agdestein both scoring in the reserves maybe he has dropped down the pecking order abit. As has been said his lack of appearances prob suggests that Gus isn't overly impressed with him so far.

This hasn't been annonuced yet, but he's been abducted by a splinter cell of Bolivian terrorists, and is being held captive in the back of a Citroen Berlingo parked somewhere near Slough. Gus has until Monday to give in to their demands. Its believed they want six Albion training tops from the 2004-05 season, a signed framed photo of Morten Harkett, and an industrial sized tub of swarfega.

A-ha I see what you did there.

He has a minor but persistant thigh injury - went back to Spain for treatment and is now back with us. Hasn't been training and this, coupled with lack of a pre-season, means he can't be considered at the moment. Certainly not a case of Gus not rating him or his having fallen down the pecking order.

When he came here Gus knew he had a history of injuries and knew he hadn't trained properly. It is unfortunate and of course he could turn out to be a "sicknote" of Darren Anderton proportions, but with the team doing well we have the luxury of time on our side before we need to make decisions on his ability to contribute or not.

Negotiate over the Swarfega! The rest seems reasonable.

The only thing is though Severnside, I think after his first few games there were a few worries. The commentators (I haven't seen him live yet) said they weren't really sure what he was used for (not a target man, no blistering pace, doesn't play back to goal etc) - and described him as a 'goal hanger'. Maybe Gus didn't really know what type of player he was and how he'd fit in the system but knew he needed a striker and took a chance?

Very dubious of 'niggling' injuries when some players play SEASONS with slight injuries. Even more dubious when the player is a foreign player potentially struggling to adjust and goes back to his own country for treatment.

I think Gus has had a good look, doesn't reckon he's up to it so in order to justify wages etc from his budget they are exaggerating any injury he has. Reckon he'll walk at the end of the season having played very few more games for us.

I reckon my story is more likely than this.

did anyone else notice in the Healy argus aricle I think it was Gus admitted we still need another striker. Sorry but this def suggests he doesn't think sandaza is up to filling that void. So far he hasn't impressed - let's hope he proves I'm wrong!

Whilst on the "whatever happened to" thread - do we still have Poke or has he gone? Wasn't reserve for the reserves.

What kind of Swarfega? The green stuff or the orange stuff with sand in?

I'm not suggesting a mass conspiracy with Poyet as the 'Cigarette Smoking Manager' at the top  I'm just saying perhaps until he can prove his fitness & ability in training and score a few in the reserves it might be better to make out his injury is keeping him out rather than having signed a player who is below Murray, Barnes, Baz and possibly Agdestein in the pecking order..

And by better I mean really better for Fran than anybody else..

whether hes up to it or not i dont think any of us can really say. He has hardly played and made one big contribution. whether he was good enough or not we are still light by a striker and it may be an extra option that gus is looking for.

I think any player who became available that could signifcantly improve our squad Gus would try to sign...Ankergren for example

Adding Healy to our side would be a massive step in the right direction even if we then had 6 strikers

I can kind of see where you were coming from having been an Albion fan under some fairly poor managers.

I was also a bit surprised at bringing in Sandaza if only because he seems to be the same sort of player as Holroyd (although perhaps more the finished product) and Gus already put his hands up that we don't play the right game for him. Maybe he can see that Fran has that extra bit of vision which is the difference for Gus to take a chance on him while he perhaps doubts that young Chris will be able to develop the same skills to the same level?

As to having not known what he was getting, I don't honestly think so. Our scouting network now appears to be as efficient as our coaching set up. Doesn't fancy him? Very doubtful indeed. From what he has said in public Gus has seen enough in training when Fran is fit to know what he might do for us.

Will he (and if so when will he) actually be fit and able to produce? THAT is where the jury is out for everyone Gus included
