Samsung Galaxy S2 vs HTC One X vs Sony Xperia S

I'm due an upgrade in a couple of weeks and I've narrowed down my choice of new phone to the above.

Can the NSC masses give a recommendation of which one I should go for?

A 2 year contract is such a big commitment, so the new phone and I have got to get on well!

Before anyone says Iphone, I'm not interested as I think they are generally overpriced. All the above phones are available for around £26-£27 p/m and no charge for the handset. Plus if I sign up through quidco I'll get around £30-£50 cashback.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

I reckon that it will be a 1 - 1 - 1 draw.

I prefer S2 to HTC One, but don't know about Sony Xperia S.

Can you wait until May 2nd to see what the Galaxy S3 is like?

Didn't know there was an S3. I can't do anything until May 1st anyway, so worth waiting for it seems.

I have the samsung galaxy S2 and think its pretty spot on with everything it does. Its bigger and lighter than the s1 and i find it very quick with internet and maps/navagating. The screen is HD and it does make such a difference. 8mp camera with flash is very good too.

i compared iphone and galaxy s2 and thought s2 was that little bit better.

there you go my 2pence worth

I was in a similar situation .The Galaxy S2 had just come out . I noticed the phone geeks at work were ditching their iphones for it , so I got one as well. Absolutly brilliant. As far as gaming is concerned , the screen is bigger. The big selling point for me is expandable memory. Something the iPhone does not have. It means you never run out of space and you can also download stuff from the internet on your memory stick and have it on your phone. You are not locked in to Apple .The Galaxy has a goodish sat nav , but I was able to download one from the internet , and it as good as any you would buy seperatly in the shops. Also tap and talk .I hardly ever type text anymore . I just speak into the phone and text that .
Galaxy S2 ....brilliant !!!!!!!!!

I have an iPhone 3s and I'm due an upgrade. I'm going to wait until the S3 is released because IMO the iPhones are a bit over rated. The current s2 is really good so I expect the s3 will be worth paying a bit for!

Sounds like the Samsung is well received then. Anyone got an HTC One X?

I Had the samsung for 3 days. I found it too big, rather plasticy and poor signal so I sent it back. I was advised against the Sony so stuck with UTC and got the Sensation which I'm very pleased with. Like all the others on the market they are just toys that one can make phone calls from.

No votes for the Sony then. Sounds like the new S3 or the HTC One X

I've had an HTC One X for a couple of weeks now.

It's absolutely f***ing amazing. The internet loads just as quickly as my wife's iPad, the navigation is really smooth and the apps download super-quickly as well.

The camera is superb as well.

It's an incredible phone - you will not be disappointed.

I've recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy note (a big version of the S2 with a stylus. People either love or hate it).

It also supports a 64gig micro SD card (although it says it only supports up to 32) meaning I can store around 80 gig, not tied into apple, much the same functionality as an Iphone, HD porn screen, doubles up as a sat nav and all for £21.50 a month. Not a bad word to say about it.

Samsung here.
Easily the best screen, slim design and just right sizewise.
The criticism about the battery has been countered a little because I procured a big battery with charger and large back - and have now got the app 'JuiceDefender' which turns everything off except the phone signal when the screen is off.
Still the screensaver appears to use most of the battery percentage, so I'm watching for a somewhat darker scene ...while still wanting one that's pleasant on the eye (and not just a couple of faded colours).

The next Samsung will, apparently have 4 processors or something? Well, these handhelds are slow and struggle at times on the train particularly, so here's hoping they get ever faster as p/cs have.

I gave up my "smart phone" for a £20 Nokia.

Why ? Battery Life and Signal.

I've now got a phone that lasts for days without charging and a Kindle that lasts even longer.

I also don't have the worry of finding things for my phone to do that I hadn't consider the need for before.

Have you looked into the Prada LG 3? Slim, light, good battery and in your budget with O2 contract from tesco phones online.
