Would absolutely LOVE Liverpool to thrash Chelsea next Sunday, and see Chelsea exit the FA Cup and finish outside the European spots in the league, so they don't get the extra fillip of European revenue next season (would have much preferred Palace to beat them last week, as I don't think there is any chance of Palace going down this season).

A fluke from fixtures, they’ve lucked out with a one-sided 8 days rest/prep. With no new injuries.

Praying their luck ends with that.

I'd guess Sam Jewell doesn't have a release clause, primarily because "Brighton don't do release clauses".

Buying him out of his notice period certainly won't be as simple as Chelsea stumping up nine months' pay - as you say it's pocket change to them.

I'd imagine the Albion won't entertain a fee currently - they'll want our internal transfer work to continue for a few months so Jewell's knowledge becomes stale and less valuable and then, a few months down the line, a deal will be struck for him to start at Chelsea ahead of November.
You can just see it.

Todd: “Yes! Now Sam, can you get me a list of players we need to sign.”

Sam: “I can, but not until November.”

Todd: “November!!!!”

Sam: “Well, yes. I’m contracted to Brighton until then.

Todd: “Hang on.”

(Sound of telephone being dialled)

Todd: “Hi Tony. It’s Todd again. Was wondering if we could buy out young Sam’s contract?” … “What do you mean no? But I’ve already signed a pre-contract with him!” … “What do you mean you’re introducing a new algorithm and it should be up and running by June!” … “Hello Tony? Tony? Are you still there Tony?”

How confident can we be that he doesn't make suggestions to his new club before he officially arrives there?
Im sure he will pass on some info but over time his ability to furnish Chelsea with current knowledge will diminish. Should he be seen to doing more than this, ie something which could be construed as work, he could be in a spot of bother.

I sure I read somewhere (maybe one of the articles about Star Lizard) that access to the entire data base is akin to that of a terrorist cell in that only a couple of people have full access rather than a need to know cut based on the cog you are performing.

This no doubt will include SJ. He will have been given instructions on some names where we are close to making a move maybe but certainly not the full picture

I don’t think that knowledge will be lost, the club is too savvy for that… but relationships and experience are personal attributes and can take time to build … I’m sure the club will have this covered, I was just stating that those where the elements we may initially miss
There's succession planning and there this. The successors haven't had time to success.

From what little I know of Industrial Law I think he would be in serious trouble if that was suspected. Not sure it would be worth the hassle.

I'm sure its an important job and all that but he's just another spreadsheet nerd at the end of the day. I'm sure someone has popped down Office Angels to grab a CV of another.

Its bad enough I get emotionally attached to blokes kicking a ball about. There's no way I'm extending that to some bullshitter in a suit

Oh well, never mind.
Chelsea have a habit of creating an opening at the Albion, that we fill with an upgrade, so I expect we will likely do the same again.

They did sign David Fofana who was on our radar until Winstanley and co rocked up at shitsea although I guess that is really hard to prove he wasn’t on their radar as well..

Like I said I know very little about it having never been involved in anything like that. My son was head hunted and went on gardening leave (lucky little sod) and he was very wary of doing anything that might be construed as tapping up previous contacts. That might have just been him being cautious, I don’t know.

No, it was him being sensible and honourable

Spot on as usual
Everything in me should dislike Jordan but I feel the complete opposite. He shows no bias against the Albion either which fits in with his persona. Big fan here.

I would think that's a big part in the timing.

Hire Jewell now and hijack Brightons potential summer targets.

Wouldn’t think so….that’s short-termism and only good for a window or two at most, and one or two signings perhaps. Can’t imagine Jewell has been sold that as a long term career option - it’ll be more about replicating our processes for the longer term (which won’t work anything like as well anywhere else without Starlizard input). Surprised Boehly hasn’t put a bid in for that because it’s the only way he’s ever going to turn Chelsea into Brighton.

I agree fully, it's more than just our summer targets, but it will be about that too imho.

Boehly clearly has a Brighton fetish/obsession and is desperate to try and replicate what we do over the long term.

Trying to brain drain our people and plagiarise as much of the processes as he can, is his plan, its not coincidence.
