1st since December.

I understand it wasn't the best game, Reading played 532 but the wing backs really lacked quality.
He was frozen out by the previous recently sacked manager - 1 of 3 or 4 players who weren't allowed to train in an effort to make them so fed up they left and got off the wage bill.

The new manager has brought them all back into the squad.

Weird how football works. A few years ago we played MK Dons in the FA cup, his brother at MK Dons. Few years later, Sam is barely playing at a struggling Reading and his brother is now at Sheffield United in the PL having just beaten Arsenal

He 'is barely playing' because the recently sacked manager prevented him and others from training - in order to get them off the wage bill. The new manager has dropped this strategy.

I thought he had broken a finger nail or sumink

I wondered how long it would take someone to bump this thread because he stole McCleary's goal by tapping it over the line from less than a yard out. It's the only type of chance he'll actually score from, afterall.

Glenn Murray scores the majority of his goals like that! He still had to be there to knock it over the line. To be quite honest he should have had two with that first half chance that the keeper saved.

Sure but Sam's goals for us tended to be a bit more flair than Glenn's .
Always rated him.
The stats about our pts ratio with him playing were a testament to how much he contributed to our promotion.
Thought he should have been given more of a chance in the Prem,

It's never nice seeing the tinpot biscuits win but on the other hand I do like Sam Baldock. It is a quandry, that's for sure.

Think the issue was he was most effective playing alongside a centre forward.
Chris had no intention of doing that in the Prem, so he was surplus to requirements.

I think it was more to do with the fact he never stayed fit long enough.

Definately agree that he was worth so much more to us than just his goals, his assists, workrate, and his positive influence on the rest of the team were invaluable.

However, if he was Premier League standard, what on earth is he doing playing at Reading?

Who knows whether he was premier league standard, he's never been given a chance with us.

In fairness when he went to Reading they had been competing for promotion and narrowly missed out.
