Good to see a club with a new stadium investing in what their loyal fans want.

Brentford have confirmed plans to install barrier seats at the Brentford Community stadium for the start of the 2022-23 season.

The entirety of the new ground’s west stand and 1,700 seats in the away end will be converted to licensed standing areas next season, the club said this week.

Brentford’s decision follows on from a fan survey carried out in December 2021 in which 89% of fans indicated their support for the installation.
“It’s great to see the club making good on its promise to bring safe standing to the west stand,” said Gemma Teale from Brentford Independent Association of Supporters. “Standing to watch a game has been a huge part of watching Brentford for so many fans over the years, so this is a really welcome step.”

Yes and? Brighton's loyal fans were asked the same questions in a very similar survey not so long ago, and the vast majority weren't in favour.

Lets face it many of the Albion fans who do prefer to stand are "seated" in the North Stand anyway, an area of the ground where standing is permitted.

I’m yet to be convinced standing in large numbers can ever be that safe . Far safer to be seated .

Interesting news from Brentford.

I'd be fairly sure the apparently massive difference in attitude to safe standing between Brighton and Brentford fans is not a real difference but a difference in how data were gathered.

Much prefer to bypass safe standing and turn the north stand into a proper terracer as per the Goldstone please

Terraces for those that want it one end, and 3 other stands for the sitters

Terracing is illegal in the Premier League, whether or not individual clubs are in favour of it. Nobody wants to risk another Hillsborough.
