Hello,

We are StandUpSitDown, a campaign aiming to get safe standing areas at UK football grounds introduced.

This would have many benefits, both for those who like to sit and for those who would prefer to stand. ( Category & forums listing - Stand Up Sit Down Forum... )

We are currently looking for more members to join our forum and back the campaign. We have just started a Facebook group to show the authorities how many people care about these issues. ( Incompatible Browser | Facebook... ) If you are interested in the campaign then please join the facebook group.

If you are particularly interested and want to do more to help the campaign, please join us on our forum ( Category & forums listing - Stand Up Sit Down Forum... ). Aside from being useful for the campaign, the forum is also a place to hear other supporters views on fan culture and football in general, as well as generally fighting for fans' rights. The forum is also supported and co-ordinated by the FSF.

Thank You,

SUSD

It's obvious that this excellent campaign won't be won by football supporters alone. It needs the active involvement of a few high-profile football CLUBS.

Sadly, none of the major clubs seems interested in breaking ranks, even though there are senior directors in the game who know that safe standing makes sense.

probably because they can get more bums on seats as opposed to feet on ground in the same size area?
genuine question as I dont know!!

You could get more people standing in a given area than sitting on seats, but you probably couldn't charge as much per person.

probably not much in it revenue-wise

Good luck, it's a very good campaign and I'm all for it.

A return to terracing has worked wonders in German football, and given the right setup, I'm sure setting up some terracing sections at British grounds could work.

The only minor downside of returning to terracing is that we wouldn't get four hot stewardesses repeatedly march up and down the stand telling us all to sit down like at Colchester the other night!

After what happened at Hillsborough all those years ago, it will never happen. Too much red tape

The fact is with football supporting is that a few idiots will spoil it for the majority now and again.

Good campaign and I'm all for it. Having a Facebook group won't help I'm afraid as no matter how many members you get no-one in 'authority' takes the least bit of notice of FB groups. As already mentioned if you can get some big names/clubs behind it then all power to you. Good luck.

So the Germans went from standing stadia, to all seater, back to part standing/part seated.... but we cant do it? Ok.

If you don't think it's possible just keep shut.

But it seems others have to 'give it up' or 'get over it' if they don't agree with you. People in glass houses and all that.

Oh fuckety f***, I really am GLIB.

Judging from the forum and the Facebook group, the campaign will fail. It's not as if they've built a serious case for action beyond pretty much saying 'wouldn't it be nice if we had a choice to sit down or stand up?'
