....fever in the golfing fraternity is starting to reach fever pitch. I for one think the European team is very strong with a great combination of youth and experience....I have a feeling the Americans will again be put to the sword in front of the own over boisterous fans...I know I'm going to be glued to one of the great sporting events ever !!!

Anyone else think we stand a good chance in Detroit ?

Yeh, I think we have a cracking team.
The greens will be a problem though, very
undulating and quick as glass.

Europe 2/1 to win, which I think is pretty good

I'd be surprised if there was more than a one point difference at the end of the contest. The draw is a good bet.

I'd say that, on paper, the US team is weaker than average, while the European team is of average standard.

It's great for English golf that we've got so many in the squad. It will be interesting to see the pairings for the opening day.

I have my doubts. I'm not very happy with the choice of Bernard Langer as captain - he strikes me as a bit of a cold fish, who won't be able to galvanise the team as effectively as the likes of Sam Torrence or Seve. I don't think he has much of a rapport with the players. Team spirit is essential to this European team, its what carries us through these events, but I don't see Langer as a particularly inspiring captain.

Does anyone have an inside edge on the wild cards ? Surely Monty just HAS to be nailed on for this tournament. He's been there and done it at previous Ryder Cups, so we know he performs at these unique events. Almost regardless of current form, I think he is essential to the European team. If Langer doesn't select him, I will have an almighty strop.

I've got a f***ing ACE weekend planned for the Ryder Cup. Round a mates house for Day 1 on the Friday night, then everyone coming back to mine straight after the QPR match on Day 2 to watch it, then off round another mates on Sunday night for the final day. Every night will be a drunken, beer-soaked frenzy of outlandish sweepstakes, hopeless bets, artery-clogging takeaways and boistrous Tiger Woods competitions on the PS2, with LOADS of swearing.

Got the Monday booked off work to recover and have a round of golf on as well. Bring. It. On.

Last time Europe had a weak team and triumphed. This time it's the US - can't help feeling that on that basis they may sneak it. Especially as it's on their turf
