Just been chatting to a mate of mine who used to do a lot of work for Ryanair, apparently C4 next Monday have a dispatches special about Crew falling asleep on flights and incidents that have been happening there over the last year or so.

Some cabin crew that helped make the film have seen it already, and by all accounts its shocking stuff, the sort of thing that will really make you think about flying with them.

I've always thought that Ryanair have an excellent reputation for safety, but this programme looks like compulsive viewing.

I honestly believe that if its your intention to do so, you could make a program making absolutely any organisation look unprofessional or incompetent. I won't stop flying with them.

I spent a long time working for Dan Air and I know plenty of people had their doubts about them but I suspect that the Ryan Air documentory is more than a little sensationalist. There's far too many checks by the CAA to let anything serious happen. I would also suspect that negetive comments about Ryan Air come from temporary staff who were not kept on as most cabin staff start their careers on temparary contracts.

How true that is ! Mind you I've been on the flight deck of another (now defunct) British airline and it was clear to even my uneducated eyes that the captain and first officer were not on speaking terms. It got rather nasty when we flew into the turbulance left by the Jumbo which landed before us.

Flying Balkan air was always fun in the early 90s. Luggage racks like you get on trains, i.e. no doors so when the plane banks watch out for bits and pieces falling on your head, and a smoking policy that was so ludicrous it was hilarious. Smoking on the right, non-smoking on the left! :lolol:

On our Russian flight all the Russians cheered and clapped when we landed. Says it all really.:lolol:

Yes but I've had that on charter flights and even had it landing in Atlanta one time as that plane had bounced across the Atlantic for hours, not very nice.

I heard a horror story about Ryanair the other day, customer 'services' rather than safety, which exactly mirrored my own experience a few years ago.

What it comes down to is that when everything is OK, all well and good. But because there is absolutely no margin in the pricing to put anything right, when things go wrong they stay badly wrong.

These guys were on a weekend trip to Poland (Krakow?) due to fly home Sunday night, back to work on Monday.

Their late flight was eventually cancelled due to fog - and by way of 'sorting' the problem the Ryanir rep offered tham a flight back on the Thursday (the rest were sold out). That was it.

No hotel costs even for that night, no travel expenses to another airport, nothing. They eventually had to ring and get someone in the UK to book scheduled flights at another £150 a head back from Warsaw on the Monday, on top of their Ryanair fare, and make their own way there.

Exactly the same thing happened to me, substituting Verona and Milan for Krakow and Warsaw. Not ideal.

Complete nightmare as it was though, maybe you have to say if I get five cheap flights that go OK, I can put up with one of those.

Anyone here flown into St Lucia- not the international airport (Castries- i think...) but on an internal flight?

Did it last October and the plane was slightly dodgy to say the least- before take of a maintenance man was seen going into the cockpit with an oversized wrench, the door closed and lots of banging ensued. The door opened and the pilot was overheard saying "well if it gets stuck again how am i going to do that?"

Upon landing in St Lucia it was kind of likened to landing on a tennis court with chain link fencing all around it. We stopped about ten metres short of the end of the runway only to see one of the islands biggest towns all around it...

Never been so glad to leave a place ever i think.

I know that that's where people say 'well you get what you pay for' but that's just taking the piss. They should be entitled to compensation or be put on an alternative carrier at Ryan Air's expense,

Because RyanAir opt not to be involved in the IATA regulated BSP scheme they dont come under the same duresdiction as other scheduled airlines.

However it is odd that they dont follow suit with most other non BSP airlines and offer some form of compensation/repatriation scheme.

I was aware that Ryan Air operate outside of the BSP scheme but even so, morally they should have done more.

Lest we forget, this was a while ago, but these are the people we're talking about - I doubt that Ryanair is that unsafe. Just wankers.

I could be wrong but i think it was laso them that got into hot water when they asked three disabled people to leave a flight before take off because they realised they had their quota of disbled people on the plane already.

Their customer service is poor if things go wrong. If the flight is cancelled you get your money back if they can't make other arrangements. Getting your money back ain't much use if you are stuck in some tiny regioal airport miles from anywhere late at night.

Many people flying with ryanair don't realise that there is no customer services telephone support at weekends or from 6pm at night. If things go wrong you are on your own!

Our company always books flights through an ABTA travel agent. You have to pay a commission to the agent, but they are responsible for getting you home if things go wrong with the airline.
