Ryanair does not carry unaccompanied minors (under 14 years). Escort and special facilities are NOT available. Ryanair will carry unaccompanied minors aged 14 or 15 years ONLY upon completion and signature of a form OF indemnity at check-in of EACH departure airport, by a parent or guardian.

Children under the age of 14 years must always be accompanied on the same reservation by a passenger over 16 years.

Unaccompanied minors aged 14 or 15 years travelling must present the required valid photo-id at check-in. The parent or guardian of the unaccompanied minors, are required to remain in the airport until the flight has departed.

I flew to France unaccompanied when I was 12. My 'escort' saw me on the plane and I got off to be met by a complete stranger who spoke very little English. I had to collect my bags and everthing pretty much on my own, I felt like a right grown up.

Typical - give you the info then tell you to phone to check then you cant get through! Not very helpful is it!

Pemium rate line as well no doubt. There is no way or where on earth that I would fly with Ryanscare or subject my kids to their cattle market of an airline.

Our nephew flies over and back from Ireland about six times a year unaccompanied using RyanAir. He has just turned 15 and has never had any bother.

Depending on the airport (we've had this happen both ways) He stays this side of the check in lounge until boarding and goes right through and straight onto the plane, so he is always with us and not on his own for an hour in the boarding lounge. Sometimes it is that he gets checked in and one guardian/parent is allowed air side with him until they board. They make you sign a form saying you accept the consequences and will not leave the airport until the flight is in the air and you need to give details of someone meeting him at the other end.

He has never had any problems, he's a pretty switched on sensible kid.

Thanks Starry. Hoping she can do the Gatwick/Shannon route to visit her cousin at half term. We're just worried she'll be wandering round all shops in departure and miss her flight.

Can't stand EasyJet anymore. Yes their fares may be cheap sometimes but customer service sucks.

The last straw for me was when we where meant to be first on and then ended getting on last and then having to sit at either end of the plane away from my family.

I would raher pay another £25.00 each way with BA, get a super fast check in, allocated seat, meal, drink + free newspaper and a proffesional service.

I flew backwards and forwards to and from Ireland as a kid, from the age of maybe 10 or so, as an unaccompanied minor. Always flew with Air Fungus, in the summer holidays it was like a school day trip there were that many of us, must have been a right mare for the poor hostesses who were put in charge as we ran riot around Heathrow.
