im confused why either side would shell the nuclear plant. Russia holds it so why attack it, Ukraine cant hope to retake presently and wouldnt want the fallout retaliating to anything launching from there. no real evidence and feels like propaganda.

It might be Russia trying to raise a false flag for some reason or another?

Or maybe Ukriane are closer to retaking it than we are led to believe. After all, there's a lot of rumours about Ukraine being less than 10km from Kherson, despite what the war maps say...

Russia can blow it, blame it on Ukraine or a sad sap russian scapegoat commander, declare a ceasefire, withdraw from Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts as a "goodwill gesture", and cement their territory in Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk.

Putin has a way out of his disasterous war, doesn't lose Crimea, saves face and survives politically.

If these western rockets are as accurate as we are led to believe the Ukranians, knowing the layout precisely could just be targeting perimeter buildings?

It’s a bit risky but the Russians are trying to divert the energy from the plant to Russia allegedly, although how long that would take is anyone’s guess

All at the point where it's pretty clear the Ukranian military hardware is about to go up a notch in capability.

In time, we could see a very different Russia. Possibly, many different Russias, reflecting the wide diversity of the disparate regions, with differing cultures, peoples, languages and religions that currently make up the largest country on earth.

But this won't be easy. Imagine being born, living your whole life, and dying, never having known the freedom of TV, radio, press and association? How would you know what you've been missing? Imagine being fed a diet of government propaganda your entire life. Your views, opinions, horizons, ambitions, allegiances and loyalties are going to be driven - and limited - by a group of 'elites' in a far away land. Everything that you considered to be true, throughout your whole life, could be turned upside down in the next few years.

If this process looks like coming to fruition, then it will need a carefully considered, measured approach by the rest of the world to help Russians through what could be the most traumatic journey towards democracy.

The last time Russia tried this, it didn't go too well. The result was Putin.

high risk and counterproductive, wouldnt fancy living in Donbass or Crimea with the fall out. but with Putin wouldnt rule out. i wonder if commanders on the ground would carry through such a disaster.

Russia is up to something with that nuclear plant - I don't actually know what. Just guesswork, quite probably wrong.

For that to happen he would need to be in a position of strength. He’s not, the Russian military machine is a mess in terms of strategy, poor equipment and poorly trained man power. Ukraine will simply say no and the West will support them, as rubbing Putin’s nose in it as it will send a message to whoever takes over.

The attack on the airfield in Crimea is a very big issue for Putin. It’s the equivalent of someone taking a dump on his door step.

It wouldn't surprise me if it were the Russians trying to blow up the power lines. After all, this is the same army that dug trenches into the radioactive soil around Chernobyl.

There's a rumour that Putin's "chef" - Prighozin - has been killed in Ukraine, although reports are conflicting. Anyway, his HQ has been flattened by HIMARS.

Not a chef as such, he's the guy that runs the Wagner mercenaries.
