Sorry if anyone has mentioned this before, but from BBC website

Rushden have taken Kitson on two week trial

What's the betting he scores a hatful and stays fit all season with all that lovely new surgery WE bought for him?

:glare:

Former Newcastle and West Ham striker Paul Kitson has been handed a two-week trial by Rushden boss Brian Talbot.
The 32-year-old striker will spend the next two weeks at Nene Park after trialist Leon Constantine was injured in training on Tuesday.

Kitson is searching for a club after being released by Brighton in the summer.

The striker appeared sporadically for Brighton last season as he struggled with back and groin injuries.

He played just seven times, scoring twice.

Is that last fact right? He only scored once, didn't he at Reading...

And as for seven times!!!!

I am sure that he still has goals in him (If can be bothered).

But he certainly didn’t appear to fit in here. Probably a decent signing for a team like Rushden who have just come up.

No Diamonds deal for Kitson

Rushden have confirmed they are extremely unlikely to sign former Newcastle and West Ham striker Paul Kitson.

Speculation has been rife that the forward was set to join the club after he began training at Nene Park on Wednesday.

But a club spokesman insisted that boss Brian Talbot had only invited Kitson to train with his squad as a favour to the player.

"It looks very unlikely that anything will happen regarding Paul Kitson," he claimed.

"He is currently a free agent so Brian is allowing him to take part in the training sessions so he can keep himself fit."

Would have thought given his track record with injuries, the last thing he would want to do is traina nd risk further damage !!

i think we should've kept him, on a pay as you play contract............then if he got injured again we could get rid of him!

Can't really see anyone taking a risk on him.

I presume the only reason he hasn't retired is he has gambling debts to pay off judging by the amount of the time he spent down the bookies. ???
