Next Saturday (30th June) I will be toeing the line in Winchester at 6am ready to run 100 miles along the South Downs Way national trail, finishing at Eastbourne.

I am raising money for REMF through sponsorship, and would be grateful for any sponsorship from the good folks of NSC. I was a part of the REMF Brighton Marathon team, and used the Marathon as one of my build up runs for this event. My thanks to those of you that have already sponsored me.

The event website is here, South Downs Way 100, on the day there will be Live race updates during the 30 hours of the run

My Justgiving site is here Bob Gear is fundraising for Robert Eaton Memorial Fund .

Thanks in advance for your support.

Total respect for taking part in that awesome challenge, and I'll prob sponsor you, but just one question: If you - or indeed any of the runners taking part - aim to cover 100 miles 'during the 30 hours of the run', won't you be breaking the existing World Record for a mile, for 30 consecutive hours? Or will you be taking a short cut?

We were in New York last month and visited the 9/11 Memorial finding Robert Eaton's name on the North Tower pool (section 46) and leaving an Albion flag in his memory.
Happy to add something to your sponsorship pot.

Shirley it averages out at 3.333333 mph? Or am I missing something here?

Good Luck for the run! I've walked 75/99 miles of it, and to run it would be a fantastic feat!

No, I think you may be right. It's me that may be missing several million brain cells. My bad

I think there is a condition called 'No-BHA-footy-vortex' that plays havoc with all our thinking

We get over it after the first pre-season friendly

Yeah,
30 hours x 60 minutes = 1800 minutes

divide by 100 miles

= average 18 minute miling

I'll be looking at doing 14 minute miles for the first 30 miles, and slowing after that. Hopefully I can get to the Washington checkpoint (52 miles) in about 14 hours, knowing that if I did 20 minute miling from there on I would make the cut-off.

This is a serious run Bob and on behalf of the REMF, I would firstly like to thank you for what you are doing for the Fund, and secondly, wish you all the luck that you deserve in this quite awesome challenge.

It's a pleasure to visit your "just giving" page.

Tony....
