Yeah right  Have you ever seen Johnny Wilkinson or Matt Dawson, to name two, play in a World Cup winning and 6 nations Grand Slam Champions side?

At schoolboy level you may have a point though, I assume you never played county level or above?

I played back row Sussex Under 14's to 17's.

Have to say I prefer Rugby but only Union, not a fan of league at all.

Got put off Rugby Union by three things:-

a) being forced to play it at Lewes Priory School (this was the early 70's and it was still pretending it was a Grammar School).

b) The rugger-buggers at my University - mostly Welsh - who in the mid 70s far outdid anything in terms of vandalism than any football loving skinhead, but because it was rugby it was regarded as 'high spirits' and they were given carte blanche for the most ourageous excesses.

c) the "Class" thing in Rugby Union in England - perhaps best caricatured by Will Carling's (*) "Old Fartonian" gibe - allied to the attitude which meant anyone switching to League from Union was ostracised (almost like the attitude of the Gaelic games to people in Ireland playing Rugby or Football) which was shameful and I'm glad its gone.

So Cricket for me, and Rugby League certainly above Union.

(*) about the only sensible thing he's ever said or done, mind.

Not to mention Yorkshire CCC

I don't know the first nor last thing about cricket but they are rubbish as well (I think?) so we'll include them with the cursed counties crap sports teams.

Not sure that even Sussex public schools play rugby to a decent standard, whereas Kent Schools used to be awesome. Alex King and Brighton College are the only Sussex ones I can think of.

3 of the main Sussex Public Schools are part of the Woodard Corporation and that those have always played football as their winter sport.

Oh and cricket is better than either code of rugby.

I played Rugby from school until injury forced me to give up in my late twenties. It's a great game and unlike football (I played Sunday league) it isn't populated with the wankers who think their Pele but who are in reality shite, or the bloke who thinks he's the hard man of the side and likes to scythe down the opposition. No, I enjoyed the Rugby experience a lot more than the footy.
Rugby riddled by class ... then so is cricket. When I was stationed in Yeovil many moons ago Rugby was the game of the masses more so the football.

I don't like Rugby league but then I didn't like playing it but it doesn't mean it's crap
