Have to say I prefer Rugby but only Union, not a fan of league at all.

Cricket.

Have never played rugby (unless you count one attempt aged 12) and despite living only a 5 minute walk from Gloucester rugby ground I have little or no intention of ever going to watch a game. Locals find it hard to understand how someone could be so ambivolent towards the game they love, when I explain that I grew up in West Sussex where there was little or no rugby they still give me that confused look as if to say "how can you have a life without egg-chasing", well I have managed so far.

Cricket on the other hand was what we played as kids during the summer months, have loved the game since I was about 10 years old and probably always will.

That's because Sussex rugby is SHITE and as far as I'm aware always has been. Although I do remember Worthing having a team in the Plate (2nd string) Twickenham 7's a couple of decades ago as being the highspot, don't think that they got very far though.

Having played both to fairly high level, cricket comes out tops by a country mile.

My main gripe with rugby is that involves little to no skill. If your big and can run and catch, it's a piece of piss.

Yeah right  Have you ever seen Johnny Wilkinson or Matt Dawson, to name two, play in a World Cup winning and 6 nations Grand Slam Champions side?

At schoolboy level you may have a point though, I assume you never played county level or above?

Ok I'll revise my above statement to any postion other than fly half or scrum half as you need other skills in those positions.

Tell me what skills a prop needs?

Exactly Icy, if you grow up in an area where there is little exposure to a certain sport then the chances of becoming interested in it as either player or spectator are reduced. I reckon the only schools in Sussex where rugby is played to any standard would be the public ones, for those of use edjumecated by the state there was almost none. I grew up in Storrington, I think there might have been a rugby team in Pulborough and maybe one in Horsham but other than that I wouldn't have a clue.

Ask anyone from outside Sussex about stoolball and they will look at you like you are some sort of idiot, but we played that in the summer at school.

Not sure that even Sussex public schools play rugby to a decent standard, whereas Kent Schools used to be awesome. Alex King and Brighton College are the only Sussex ones I can think of.

Granted, generally short squat meatheads but watching teams like France, New Zealand and Australia there is massive skill in the backs and back line forwards.

Although not a big fan of rugby I did go to a few games at Murrayfield when I lived in Edinburgh, suffering racist abuse from some Scottish fans after a game against South Africa put me off going again, it isn't just football that has retards following the game but it is us who get the publicity when things go wrong.
