Companies like TNT and DHL only want the profitable part of delivering mail which means bulk delivery from big businesses , the only thing is that they dont actually deliver it ! All they do is sort it and then hand it over to Royal Mail to do the final delivery to your home/office. The stamp you stick on the envelope means its the same price whether the letter is going 6 miles or 600 miles so it doesn't take a genius to work out that cross subsidies from other parts of Royal Mail are needed to make it just break even , hence all the junkmail.

To any posties on here? Does mail posted 1st class get to the dstination quicker than 2nd class. I now only buy 2nd class stamps and answer the letters that I receive the day I receive them and then send all of the replies 2nd class.
I only use 2nd class as 1st class can take 2 days whereas 2nd class is normally 3 days. Only means sending off birthday cards etc a day earlier than what I would have done in the past.

I was told by a postie in Burgess Hill that irrespective of how many times a day the boxes are emptied that the mail is taken from BH once a day at 2.00pm. So if you post a letter in a box in the town which is emptied at 3.00pm or 6.00pm it will sit in BH until 2.00pm next day.

Can't comment on that, but why don't you post yourself a letter, 1st class, this afternoon, and see if it arrives with you in the morning, assuming your a BH man.
Personally I wouldn't listen too much to a 'doom and gloom' postie, as there are a fair few about.

But I did order something yesterday afternoon and it arrived in my hands this morning, 17 hrs later.
Make that 19 hrs for you 'non posties'.

To be fair, whenever I post a first class letter from Aberystwyth at 4pm it always arrives in Haywards Heath the next morning:thumbsup:

What time do you all get your mail?

Fecking joke around here, it can vary from 8.30 to 14.00
What a way to run a business but I gather they are now in profit due to the enormous amounts of junk mail that clogs the system up and probably causes the delivery delays and then 99.99% of it probably gets binned when it arrives anyway.

You'd think with the number of emails sent that there would be less mail and the whole thing would get streamlined. Why don't they farm out the junk mail to a once a week delivery, preferably on the day the bin men come so it can just go straight into the dustbin?

Well pissed off with never knowing what time it's gonna arrive

The reason you get it between 8-2pm is because thats the delivery time....

Thats one of the reason all the posties were striking last year because of the later delivery.

I was SHOCKED and APPALLED when I heard the other day that certain unscrupulous posties had been THIEVING the videos to You've Been Framed, by opening the envelopes clearly containing video tapes (addressed "Freepost, You've Been Framed"), re-doing the covering letter, and claiming the £250 for THEMSELVES.

Harry Hills not happy about it.
Not happy at all.
