Going to Rotterdam this weekend, can anyone recommend any good bars/pubs/restaurant or any particular areas of the city we should check out? Thanks NSC!

Used to live in The Hague, and missus used to love the shops there...I never really got into the clubs or bars there though..baja in center is ok, but its a bit posey...
Hague is 25 mins away, and you have the beach...I know its winter... but the seafront bars are pretty good all year round..

Depends on what you like. If you appreciate decent pubs with good beer and an open log fire, the Locus Publicus is one of the very best drinking establishments in the whole country: Welkom bij Bierlokaal Locus Publicus Rotterdam

It's a place for reverential supping rather than a riotous night out though.

i like that BRIDGE they've got down there, plus a "walk of fame" almost as dubious as brightons one

It's pretty crappy for nightlife, in my limited experience. The Baja Beach Club seems to be the default option and that's pretty ordinary.

Went to Rotterdam on a rugby tour once, it was queens day and the place was f***ing rocking !

Try De Hofnar on (I think) Janker Franstraat - quite a lively pub food type of place - not a fan of Rotterdam I'm afraid


there are a couple of half decent restaurants around Glashaven but can't remember names

I used to support Feyenoord when I lived in Holland... I lived in the Hague, but ADO Den Haag were a nightmare. Hollands Millwall...
Went on train to Ajax with them once.. got off the train, but within 50 ars of the stadium was beaten back on the train, by two lines of riot police, and back home fairly early...
Think it was the season they won the championship..
Massive celebration in center of R otterdam, and the fans attacked the police.
First time the Dutch police had opened fire on the civilian population since the war.
Pretty insane.

Anyway, apart from carnival .. I didnt really enjoy Rotterdam as much as the Hague (Scheveningen) beach bars and clubs or Amsterdam...was a decent garage club in hoofdorp...

still itll be new to the op, so im sure he will enjoy it anyway...

Not legal, its still a misdemenour....but you would really have to piss off a copper to get pulled.

5 grams for personal use is tolerated...which is the key word in the law there.

Dont have coffee shops here in Prague, but its come out that more people smoke here than in the rest of the EU....including Holland...Vietnamese are growing it big time here, and a lot of skunk grown here is going to...Holland..
New laws as of January 1st include..
15 grams for prsonal use...FIFTEEN!!

Apparently, back in the day Prague was described as Amsterdam East...
and Czech friends tell me, that back in the communist times it was better, because you could smoke it openly as nobody had a clue what it was, and people smoking it just said...ah, western tobacco...haha
BUT its not so open with coffeeshops etc... I get my grass at a bar, that has good name for years...
Went 5 days on the trot to try and buy some, before they realised resistance was futile...and ive figured that a lot bars are like that...if you want to get it quickly and easily, Chapeau Rouge..

Been to Rotterdam 4 times with ships. Do what I usually do, get ashore & go for a run. 4 times I've been totally lost. Never lost my bearings anywhere else like I have in that place.
As for the night life, nothing special really.

The one and only time I went to Rotterdam was to watch Villa beat Bayern Munich in the European Cup Final.

Good place then, seaside part of Sverigen ? was very pleasant.

i saw the walk of fame when i went there last year, hadnt heard of half of em!
