Hopefully they'll get a buyer. Rotherham is a decent club with some of the friendliest fans I've had the pleasure to meet.

Personally I can't see why they don't do what Leeds have done and just not pay any of their debt and carry on as normal.

What fucks me off most is that maybe, just maybe, if all first teamers from say Man U and Chelsea donated just one weeks wages (which lets face it, they'd hardly miss), Rotherham could easily be saved.

yeah but for how long? just because some people are paid shitloads does'nt mean they ave to sell their body to save something they dont care about....same in any walk of life not just football.

Its not the players tho. Its the creation of the premier league that has set this ball in motion. All the TV & endorsement money that goes into the prem stays in the prem. about 90% of the transfers are made between english & foreign clubs so the money doesnt even stay in this country.

The reality is that for the long term could of the english game, the premier League needs to be scapped but it will never happen.

Yes i Know that a lot of the problems of lower league clubs are beset by bad management but the problems all started with the advent of the premier league

Not quite the point I'm trying to make. I don't earn £50,000+ per week, and I have no particular affiliation to Shoreham FC.

All I meant was, some players have more money than they really proably know what to do with, and could make some kind of difference to another football club.

but again...why would they want too? ex-Rotherham players maybe, but once they hand out to one club then every other club in financial difficulty will expect the same treatment.

Let me put it another way. If I was say Rio Ferdinand, and earnt £100K a week, and another football club were in serious financial trouble to the point of going out of business, I'd probably help them out. Maybe I'm just too nice eh?

Doesn't sound too promising for the Millers, read one report that said no club had gone into liquidation since Aldershot in 92, seems a bit of an irony that they have just won promotion (as a re-formed club) back to the league.

Why is it Sky's fault? Did they tell Rotherham to go and spend money they hadn't got? No. Do they decide the distribution of the TV money that they pay? No.

The state of football today is mainly due to greedy chairmen / corporate shareholders and to a lesser extent some greedy footballers. OK attendances aren't helped by the number of live games in the TV but that's decided by the leagues and the clubs, not by Sky. Sky just bid for the rights to show the number of games that the league have already decided can be shown.

Also, Aldershot got back into the league this week after going bust - they went down the tubes long before Sky were involved, as did Accrington Stanley, etc. Football club debt problems are caused by the people who run the clubs - always have been, always will be

You're right to bemoan the state of football today, but wrong to point the finger at Sky (much as it pains me to say so, coz I just don't like them)
