Totally on his day and will possibly become the highest capped outfield player for his country.

His second goal was an absolute peach. Nice dummy to let the ball run to Gerrard, brilliant twisty turn off the defender, sat the next defender on his arse with another dummy, then totally wrong footed the keeper and a lovely gentle chip into the goal.

Genius at work.

Couldn't agree more - every touch was sublime

fantastic performance - finally looking like he is back to his best for his country, and that has to be put largely down to fabio

rooney is justifying the managers decision not to select owen, and although i would have him in the squad at the least, long many it continue

Great player, I'd hate to defend against him but remember, it was only against Macedonia!, he still needs to prove it in the big games.

Must be class to score against Macedonia and BELARUS in the same night

Yes I admit, it's a sign of true quality when players are able to score goals in different matches on the same night or for different teams eg Murray, but this isn't enough to prove your the best.:p

Its brilliant how 3 games can change peoples opinions so much, after the friendlies people wanted him dropped, waste of time for England, drops too deep, hot head, fat bastard. Now 5 goals later, he is class

He always was I thought, but I thought the same of Murray but he got enough stick.

Rooney is playing well but if were not carefull he will be another Owen where his playing days will be over in his late 20's.

The same will happen to Theo where there is so much media hype on them so young they are expected to have a world class game every time they walk on the pitch.

Rooney only looked shit when Fabio thought he could play up front on his own....
Thankfully he seems to realise he cant do that.

Bang on. By having Heskey up there doing all the donkey work it leaves Rooney free to pick up the second ball and make something happen. If anything last night proved how much England need Heskey.

Completely agree-Rooney cant be holding up the ball and scoring. The driving run into the box from Heskey for Rooneys first was superb. Really working well as a partnership and it frees Shrek up to do what he does best.....scoring goals!
