[Albion] Room mates

I was recently listening to Roy Keane talk about rooming with Dennis Irwin during his career and it got me wondering whether the players still room with another player on away trips. If so, who do you think from the current squad for the Albion room together?

Milner & Steele (old northern blokes in for an early night)

Welbeck & Lamptey (father & son)

Dunk & Webster

Rutter & Baleba (the party room)

Fairly sure the roomie thing ended years ago in the PL. And rightly so as you don't want your star players off their game because of a snoring room mate

Surely it's now all about them being best prepared for the match, do they still room with each other? I'd have thought that that had been ditched long ago?

No idea... some managers force players to share rooms but usually these days, they get to choose and most will pick single rooms, but I've heard of players who prefer not to be alone with their thoughts a night before the game and will choose to share a room with someone.

They'd have roomed last year for the Europa aways but don't think we do that for PL matches these days. Just private jet from Biggin Hill.

I know that in the Potter years we, at some early stage, started to spend the night before in wherever the away game was.

No idea how it was under RDZ. Spending the night before in a hotel is deeply rooted in Italian culture, to the point where many teams spend a night in hotel even before home games. RDZ is not a traditional Italian coach, not sure what his approach was.

In the Bundesliga it generally doesn't work like that so its rather possible we avoid hotel stays at this point.

Surely there's enough money around to afford them all their own room?!

This article is a behind the scenes look at the club in September 2023.

On the Friday, there was a training session, after which the squad and staff board a coach to "Gatwick, fly to Manchester and are driven to their hotel. Dinner is at 7pm and live coverage of Brighton’s under-21s match against Villa is screened as they tuck into chicken, salad, pasta, and rice pudding."

On the Saturday morning it's breakfast, team meeting and travel to the stadium.

as a large proportion of our squad are barely out of nappies I should imagine they share with their nannys

How many rooms do you think we'd need to book then? Or do you think some staff double up? We must take over 50 for each trip when you consider squad of 20 (plus couple of extras), coaching staff of 7, kit man and his assistant, chef and his staff, player liaison, doctor/medical staff, physios, press officer...
