A shout out to his translator, who manages to project the right amount of personality when he answers - they work well together now. Better than in his press intro when RDZ would talk for 5 mins and the translator had to try to remember the speech

Yes, I too quite liked how it wasn’t just a dull and unemotional verbatim translation. I don’t know the Italian language, so I have to take his word for it that that was what Roberto actually said, specially the Solly bit (I’m in the ‘Solly in’ camp)

Me too, I think Roberto will make or break Solly. Even in the rondo training video he was showing him how he wanted him to be more aggressive to close down opponents. Will be an interesting few games!

i thought a good press conference, much better than the introduction, he seems able to express more in English than even a week ago. Obviously understands more than he speaks
Translator was good, and unlike some where the manager speaks for 5 mins and the translator then just says "yes" I had confidence that it was a reasonable interpretation of what he said.
Impressive he had all the names of the squad memorised - takes me months when i meet a group of new people


I thoiught his approach of (paraphrasing here)- i will be changing the play, but not to much now as there hasnt been time with all the players yet was refreshing, almost it aint broke, mot gonna fix it-maybe tweak it here and there as we go along

Two of the writers present had answers re-translated because they thought what he'd said wasn't completely accurate. That was in the embargoed section for the papers that happens after the cameras are switched off, by the way. It's a difficult skill and one for specialists with knowledge of football and football terminology in both languages.

But the general feeling among those present was very positive. Roberto clearly has a lot to say and his answers to questions are very detailed. As has been said, he has got to know the players very quickly and seems to have taken Solly on as a bit of a personal project. He clearly thinks he has more goals in him, as we all do, so let's hope he's right.

Yep, get Solly’s head right and the confidence flowing and he could fulfil the potential we all know he has. I reckon he’s been the most frustrating player we have had for a long time because he is capable of so much more than he’s shown as an attacker

Comes over as a real 'student' of the game. Can see from the training videos that he really gets stuck in on the training.
Like how he's spent time with each player and highlights Dunky, Webbo and Veltz as key players to his game plan.

He's got that rare attribute in football management, stage presence... In spite of his limited English, he's engaging, and he draws you into what he's saying... it's not an arrogance, a Gus level of self-confidence or a Mourinho level of vanity, he's got something special in terms of his insightfulness and honesty. I'm sure the players will love that part of him... Not getting carried away, as the next few weeks will be tough, but it's refreshing to have a manager/coach who seems in love with the game and less so with himself or his own narrative.

Here's hoping he gets the good fortune his (tactical) bravery and passion deserves in the coming weeks
