In the field
It's with real sadness that I share the news that Andy (@seagullwedgee) passed away this week, following a battle with mental illness.

He'd been following the Albion for over 50 years and has been a regular both home and away for a lot of that time.

For those of us who knew him personally, he was the greatest of friends and the kindest of men. Always going out of his way to support others when they were struggling or going through difficulties.

As well as being kind and caring, he was terrific company and some of my greatest memories following the Albion have him at the core.

Rest easy, mate. I hope you've the found the peace we've all desperately tried to help you with over the last couple of years.

Mental illness continues to be a bastard. Tell your friends and family you love them. You never know when you won't get the chance to say it anymore.

We all found out the news yesterday, so for us to win 4-0 against a team at the bottom of the league (something we know the Albion struggle with so much) AND score a rare set piece goal definitely makes me think we need to put his name in the assist column.

Very sad - just goes to show that many of us don’t always know what people are struggling with privately. Not specifically relating to Andy but it’s every reason to be kinder to people we come across online even if we disagree with them and most importantly avoid the temptation to mock or bully those that seem ‘different’.

RIP fellow fan and fellow NSCer. ☹️

Very sad news. Thank you for sharing this @Brian Fantana and the exhortation to spend time with those closest. So true. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. Our thoughts are with you and those close to Andy.
