I've not listened to the interview, so maybe there's more context to the headline. However, assuming he's NOT going to be handed a shiny-new, super-duper, ready-to-hit-the-ground-running squad mid-season, is that really the way to motivate the players you do have?

It’ll come good in the end, simply due to spending and spending. Look at the Chavs. But in the meantime let’s lap it up.

Yer depressingly they could easily come to us in the summer and pick up mitoma , wellbeck , dunk , veltman for chump change and they would suddenly move up a fair few places.

Not saying they will but we've seen how easy a team like Chelsea have done that to us

Not so sure they have the PSR headroom to spend spend spend. I think they've screwed it

Agree. These are the words of a manager who is trying to get sacked.

Only a few games in and already blaming the players

This might seem crazy but I wonder if he wants out already.
They have average players on crazy wages, the stadium is falling down, as my 16 yo said yesterday "this club are living in tha past Dad", he's not wrong. They are DESPERATE for something, hence one decent game = Amad or Garnacho are world class (did they play yesterday?).
They needed Elon Musk not Jim Ratcliffe.

Blimey! I wouldn't wish Musk on any club, even Palace......

Don't think he wants out, but that type of comment is certainly a way of trying to appease to the fans through acknowleding how shit they are. Bound to win him some support.

Obviously Amorim is going to fail because Manchester United have had plenty of good managers and none of them have been able to prevent the rottenness of the club from shining through on the pitch. Impossible job. A competent coach can't do much when the entire club culture is "incompetence".

They’re f***ed.

All of their saleable players except Amad Diallo are being touted out for sale. And “all” is a big word in this context - they have Amad, Mainoo, Garnacho and Rashford who would bring in positive PSR numbers. Amad is their best player so that’s out. I don’t think selling Garnacho for £40m is going to give them room to fix their squad.

Absolutely shambolic transfer business for a decade or more at this point has brought them to this, a team full of massively overpaid journeymen.

They’re paying Casemiro over £300k a week.

They’re screwed. Absolutely screwed.

It's why both Manchester clubs are trying to change the PSR rules, City actually aren't that much better in terms saleable assets, their players are better but the moment you put player X on £250k+ a week you are reducing the clubs that could buy them to a handful, then add in that as soon as Utd/City enquire about a player the transfer price doubles (boo hoo) and guess what that player will expect the £250k+ per week.

The rest of the EPL clubs MUST stand firm on PSR.

I agree, but the difference between those two sides are huge. Manchester City generally haven’t bought ready made stars - in fact, before this window they hadn’t bought anybody for the first team for ages. They haven’t gone out and done mental business like signing Mason Mount on hundreds of thousands of pounds a week, or Casemiro, or Eriksson. Manchester City buy younger and better and create stars to an extent (although obviously they’re all excellent players to begin with).

Manchester United have been doing their Shit Galacticos stuff for decades and it just doesn’t work, and they’ve never ever learnt. That’s why they deservedly find themselves in this position.

Not a single United player would get in the City team. I don’t think they’d even get in ours at this point!

Agree fully on PSR.

I'm not a man-manager or motivational speaker, but as a layman I would say that calling your team the worst MU team in history is not really going to be beneficial to morale.
As I said in another thread, shortly before being called a child abuser by @Thunder Bolt  the only thing I can think of is an attempt at reverse psychology. Fire them up, get them to prove him wrong.

Very, very risky game if that’s what he’s gone for, especially dealing with overpaid mercenaries who likely don’t give a f*** and will likely just phone in the rest of the season.

Might be a masterstroke but you’ve really got to know your players to pull something like that, and he’s only been there a few months. Risky.
