Very sad news, an entertaining fighter but no where near technically good enough for the UFC. A huge draw from his internet fight videos though so you can see why the UFC signed him. Could have taken the easy route and walked straight into a UFC contract but did things the right way and entered The Ultimate Fighter series instead, fought Roy Nelson who was without a doubt the best fighter on the show and showed himself to be humble and willing to learn as a fighter.

Without a doubt was the biggest name active fighter in MMA outside of the UFC and was Bellators biggest draw at the time of his death. Such a shame his last fight against Dada 5000 was such a farce and a bit of a freakshow. Who would have thought after the state Dada 5000 was in after that fight (he was resuscitated twice in hospital after collapsing) it would be Kimbo we'd be paying tribute too a few weeks later.

RIP Kimbo.

He would have made money off of the back yard videos before they got shared massively online, and he certainly got his name value from them which is why the UFC wanted to sign him.
