Sad to hear of the death of John Woodcock - the Sage of Longparish - one of the great cricket writers.

He was writing for The Times when I first became interested in cricket and carried on well into this century. I thought he'd make the ton but fell a bit short.

Still, 94 is a good innings - a long life, well lived.
