Died today just 76. An honest to goodness British heavyweight Champion boxer who lost his title to our Henry but won it back against Joe Bugner. Unfortunately suffered with Alzheimers in later life. I remember him well.

Didn't he also fight Sir Kenneth Clarke at Wembley for the Oxford Chair of Fine Art in a Python sketch ?

Remember him now. Classic case of a fighter who went on three fights too long - three crushing 1st./2nd, round KOs/stoppages in his last three fights - against hard hitting opponents (Quarry, Urtain and MacAllinden) - can't have been good for him.

Anyway, RIP Jack from Swadlincote.

He once ran a fish and chip shop in Coventry and was visited there by Muhammad Ali (true)

Cod-piece, battered, left haddock. There's got to be a joke in there somewhere.
