Genius. Loved the Fosdyke Saga - got the first few books - and the Cloggies. Dare say someone would find something to take offence at these days - but sod 'em! Great cartoonist. Good innings too. RIP

Fosdyke Saga was brilliant.
Indeed it was. Apparently Robert Maxwell hated it (he thought it was taking the piss out of him) and it was dropped soon after he took over the Mirror. Around the same time 'Flook' moved over from the Daily Mail (as the cartoonist Wally Fawkes, who has also recently died, refused to support Thatcher over the miners' strike). Maxwell loved that as they kept fitting in lots of glowing references to him.

odd thing is, I still tuck my shirt into my underpants to show I'm trustworthy.

Despite hating tripe, I’m still a fan. His satire of the Industrial Revolution etc. was a joy.
