I cant believe there isnt a thread on this here yet, or that it hasnt been on SSN or their website, but Rio Ferdinand was caught leaving a club at 4am on tuesday morning. at the time he was supposed to be on compassionate leave from Man Utd due to his grandmothers funeral..therefore missing last nights game.

i dont wanna come over all preachy, but from a club thats given him so much support, isnt it a bit of stupid thing to do.

Rio Ferdinand faces possible disciplinary measures from Manchester United after he was apparently photographed leaving a London nightclub at 4am yesterday while on "compassionate leave" after the death of his grandmother.
Ferdinand had been given special permission to stay at home when the rest of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad flew to the Czech Republic for last night's Champions League tie against Sparta Prague so he could attend his grandmother's funeral, which took place yesterday. United officials were dismayed, therefore when they started receiving calls from tabloid journalists informing them that Ferdinand had spend Monday night in the West End at the Embassy nightclub.

Ferguson, renowned as one of the strictest disciplinarians in the game, is aware of the allegations and Ferdinand can expect to be taken to task when he reports for training today.

The England international defender has just returned from an eight-month suspension for his now infamous missed drugs test and has since been keen to project an image of hard work and dedication. Given the support that Ferguson has offered him throughout that time, the United manager is entitled to be appalled by the latest controversy, particularly as it comes so close to Sunday's renewal of hostilities with Arsenal at Old Trafford.

It will also do little to endear the defender to United's fans, not all of whom thought him blameless for the missed drug test and have been critical of Ferdinand's glitzy lifestyle and frequent return visits to London.

Ferguson had spoken at length on Monday about the importance of Ferdinand preparing well for matches and said that he would benefit from having a couple of days off, but it is fair to assume he did not imagine the 25-year-old would be seen leaving the Embassy by the London paparazzi.

So what?

He was given the day off to go to a funeral - which I expect he attended - and he then had the rest of the day off.

He doesn't have to play until Saturday and I am sure he attended training the next morning or whenever he was next supposed to be there.
