Rick Gelodski (something like that ...) wrote a decent one about Coventry in the mid-90's, although I'm not sure what it was called ... Staying Up?

Scally . . .. an account of football hooligan Andy Nicholls. The best football hooligan book by a mile.

Is that the one where he goes all over europe even when there's no footy on, nicking tracksuits and trainers ? Brilliant book if so.

The Glory Game - Hunter Davies

Given TOTAL access to Spurs in season 1971/72

Very good

There is also a new book called 'England Expects' by James Corbett. This comes out on 23rd march and is a history of England's national team. Should be good

How about trying "Boots, balls and haircuts" by Hunter Davies.

'An illustrated history of football from then to now'

It's a good book you can pick up and browse through at any time.

Smith is a journalist but also a life long Hibs fan.
His editor at the Scotsman newspaper suggested he right a book about watching football in Edinburgh.

Smith describes his view of the differences between the clubs &
the supporters.
In one wonderful paragraph he describes the clubs as such.

He meets two old school pals from 30 years ago and goes to some away games with them.:clap2: :clap2:

Seconded! Given total access when he wouldn't get within a mile of the dressing-room for the press officers and agents and wizards of spin nowadays. Hunter Davies was a great writer too, for the Sunday Times if memory serves. Well worth hunting down.

Yep, this is a must read, very moving. And what do you mean "even if it wasn't true?"...... It's Non-Fiction?

Agree with the sentiments about Dynamo. It's a very good book to read.

Also, the Gary Imlach book has had very good reviews and I plan to pick this up soon myself.

I've got both, bloody good reading and insight into the game at lower league teams.

Although I find football hooligan books load full of absolute nonsense, this one is a very good read.

I read that book and enjoyed it. Rather interesting when his research sees him meet a very young Nick Griffin. Nick, is just starting out in his career with the BNP and is very eager to impress it's leaders.
