Plenty of options in the Championship (and other leagues outside the Premier) other than Henry.

Jamal Lewis - Norwich

Diego Rico - Bournemouth

Ryan Manning - QPR

Antonee Robinson - Wigan (League 1)

Rayan Ait-Nouri - Angers (Ligue 1)

If March is our best option at LWB then we might as well give up now and get ready for the Championship. He is not good enough to be a Premier League player.

Whilst he might not be our first choice LB two managers have rated him highly enough for him to amass 90 appearances out of 114 Prem fixtures. That - along with his versatility - suggests to me he's worth his place in our squad of 25.

Robinson has singed for Fulham.

Ait-Nouri would be a very good signing. Him, Henry or Lewis and I'd be happy.

Not disputing your Maupay story, but I'd be genuinely fascinated to learn the chain of information that leads to a matchday steward- who presumably hasn't even worked at the club for six months now- knowing Brentford's inside transfer gossip :)
He’s part of the furniture over there so gets a few snippets, like Maupay was nowhere near the reported £20m fee.

I'm not suggesting you're getting carried away here, but some people might argue there's a tiny case for Robertson/ Van Dijk/ AN Other/ Alexander-Arnold at this juncture. Or the Bayern Munich backline, at a push.

And who could forget Dallas, Ayling, Cooper and Koch.[/QUOTE]

I'm telling you, these four are going to ignite the PL this year playing, as they do, for the best team in Europe.

Never said I had the answer.

But £15m is a lot of money for a LWB/LB, given that we haven't spent much more on that on attacking positions.

I wonder if there isn't better value abroad. What happened to the Spanish chap we were looking at?

For me the price is all about context. I'd pay more than that for Lamptey. The impact he had on our team. Something similar on the left side would be great.

If March is our best option at LWB then we might as well give up now and get ready for the Championship. He is not good enough to be a Premier League player.

I've always had a soft spot for him. I admire his energy and willingness to take chances and really push forward, try to get the ball to the strikers with urgency.
That's the transition we seem to struggle with - in the last third.

But he can't defend (which is half his job in the LWB position) and he seems to be missing that extra 10% that would make him a quality Prem player.

I've always used the word "potential" when talking about March but keep forgetting he's not 20, he's now 26!

Now I think about it, Dallas, Ayling, Cooper & Koch sounds less like a world class back four and more like a Dorking-based firm of divorce solicitors.

I'm confused is that March you refer to?

I have a soft spot for March as I’m sure most of us do, but he’s 26 now and he won’t be getting much better.

I love him, and it hurts me to say it, but I think we need an upgrade.

26 is peak years .

Has to show it now or be moved on .

I’d love him to do it but not convinced

Don’t think he would command that fee
The lower price point of 12M more likely
As was Konsa Prior to moving to Villa
But if we are looking for a similar ish player for the opposite flank to TL
He fits the bill perfectly

We re shopping at Harrods these days Not Poundland
But I make you right IF we can find better value abroad
Do so ! Keep the powder dry for that striker 😎

His stats are shite, can’t cross to save himself can we not ignore this. If we had signed him for £10m we would all be happy if he left.

His level looks like upper Championship, where he does look a decent player. At PL level he hasnt really cut it, at all.

More effective coming off the bench against tired legs than a starter imho, but agree, its make or break....... and if we could get a decent fee and upgrade I'd take it.

But if you shop at Harrods you supposedly get better quality, for a similar product.

Is that the case?

100% agree on forward.

So who would he choose out of the reported interested clubs.

Brighton
Leeds
WBA
Villa

He's a Birmingham supporter BUT might value living in Birmingham more than that allegiance.

...but if he wanted to move close to home, WBA is only down the road.

Then there's Leeds that every player in the world wants to play for.

I think our image is great at the moment. It's clear that players really want to play for us. We're getting a reputation for good football and developing young talent. Maybe he has a network in London now too, so is happy to stay down south.

I thought it was just us, villla and west ham who've been linked.. out of those 3 i'd fancy our chances.. But now you mention Legacy Leeds we can't possibly compete with them
