I'm pretty much at every game home and away and I don't think I've ever seen Solly burst at rapid speed down the wing. He'll use a burst of speed to get past a defender but he's never sprinting more than about 10 metres.

The way we play doesn't lend itself to it, but I distinctly remember him running virtually the whole length of the pitch at Arsenal, when his run was rudely interrupted by an Arsenal player. Won us a penalty, which Glenn dispatched, and got us a point.

March is nowhere near good enough, recognising this does not equate to "not knowing your stuff". I cannot understand what anyone sees in him. Decent in the championship to be fair to him, which is without a doubt the level he should be playing at.

March is DEFINITELY good enough to be in our squad.

More recently than that, it was Solly’s run and cross that set up Dunks equaliser at home to Arsenal.

He’s got the ability. It’s a mental issue for Solly. Lacks confidence and makes bad decisions on final balls at times. I’m still confident theres more to come from him and wouldn’t be disappointed if he started the season as our first choice LWB.

Completely agree with this.

However..... he is now 26 and we seem to be expecting him to make that step up every season.

Think this season is last chance saloon for Solly, because despite his obvious ability he needs to show it.

I don’t understand football ??? Do you know how many big chances he created last season ??? ONE he’s played wing back, winger, attacking midfielder Lamptey on the other hand created seven.

Name them.. all seven and Solly's one because that just sounds like another randomly generated stat. Also, it's worth saying Solly's best position in the championship was *left* midfield didn't play there once last season.

Again, if you don't think he's good enough to start i'll accept that. However, he's a more than capable squad player who on his day can give anyone troubles.

Solly played mainly on the left in Champ

A certain championship player of the season played on the right.

Big chances are we should score or have a high percentage to score you can find them on the net. Was Solly disguised as Knockaert in the championship?

I think the question is would you be happy if we had signed March last summer for a few million and all we had was a sitter missed, crosses pumped to the corner flags no goals and one assist for a left sided attacker?

I think that's a slightly harsh way of looking at it. Because there was probably times he was the pass before the assist or made great challenges which get overlooked because they're not key stats. However, if you are asking me would I rather sign somebody else to start left wing back and have March as cover for that position and the other various positions he covers. Then yes. I think he's got a lot of strengths that we would miss if we didn't have him and I feel that if we sold him it would be another Ashley Barnes situation.

In terms of reading a game, keeping shape, linking play, keeping possession, using his pace he has a lot of overlooked strengths, if his crossing was more consistent or he rediscovered his shooting boots he probably wouldn't get half the stick he does.

Nothing against the lad I just don’t think he offers enough in the PL and incredibly frustrating to watch.

I like Solly, but for me he slows play down too much offensively, his first move is to stop the ball. He is just poor defensively, the amount of times he has a player double-banked with the LB and the pair get beaten (clearly not just Solly at fault), and his tackling is quite poor. Though he is improving in that respect.

All of that said, I agree with a lot of the above post and would not want to lose him. I actually think he's better coming off the bench, but perhaps that's not what he wants longer term.
