There are some places going up near me in Camden that have rental costs advertised on the hoardings outside, should you wish to secure your one bedroom flat nice and early. They come in at £580 a week, i.e. £30k per year.

Is displaying the rent just an enticement to the BTL investors ?

Rent costs are just far too high anywhere you choose to live. And it really makes my piss fizz. I'm currently shelling out £800 a month for a 2 bed flat.

Which is mortgage repayment costs. But because over 65% of mine and the missus income is taken up by rent, once the bills are also paid and stuff for our little'in we have about £200 left a month for socialising and food. Which means we rarely go out now. If ever.

It just means it's gonna take 20 years to save for a deposit on a mortgage. And being 36 years old now means that in all likelihood we will never own our own house. Which really ***** me off.

Rent capping should have been brought in years ago. And buy to let mortgages should never have existed in the first place. Here in the South east and Brighton especially I just don't know how anyone can afford to buy a house, it's not as though the average wage in Brighton is that high is it?

I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear that Labour have got an answer for your little predicament...you're not "Aspirational" enough apparently. We can all look forward to lots of new leader candidates not addressing the issues but spouting the A word in every single interview. Hurrah!

The Tories have also got an answer for you, but I'm not sure that'll get past the spellcheck censor.
