I've had it with all this frankly, until someone takes responsibility for this new flag, and I have absolutely no idea why Uncle Spielberg hasn't taken the bull by the horns, then I can't be bothered. I have offered time and again to get involved, even to store the thing (although we are in Shoreham, we do have a large workshop) but nothing happens.

When the REMF has decided what to do with its new flag, let me know. I might have gotten old and grey by then.

thats very harsh, I just did a thread suggesting a new flag and tested the water , tell me what Bull and What horns to take and I will be happy to take them, but if its going to degnerate into a blame laying thread I think its best forgotten altogether

We are on £ 685 pledges. I do not think it appropriate to say if we do not buy the flag this is a contribution direct to REMF although people are free to donate to the fund at anytime. This thread was to gauge interest in a scond flag as it was a shame that the first flag appears to have thrown out. This is in no way a judgement on the people who transported or looked after the first flag and I agree we need to get an approved storage for a second flag and someone/some people to be in charge of this. If this is seen as responsibility and ownership of REMf I will get the flag insured as well. Lets see where we are at the end of August and take it from there.

Eh harsh? You mentioned that donations had stopped/slowed - I simply said if you had actioned (or at least responded to) some of the suggestions then you may get some more response, nothing happened for days so I assumed you didn't care? People seem to be happy to be involved again if the issues are ironed out, as Chairman thats your responsibility?

No blame laying at all - simply attempting to get some action going on some of the worthwhile and valid points mentioned re future flag movement and storage.

Edited to add - if anything at all is harsh its that the many suggestions/offers of assistance/advice have seemingly been ignored, which would probably explain some of the frustration around this.

blimey, I am the chairman of REMF and do a lot of work with that, this is a collective thing where it is an open thread to see what people think, people are free to put their names forward and I am not The REMF. If people can help with storage we can look at options. I will try and address any issues in the thread but I have also been away on holiday and am have quite a lot of work to do.

and I am not The REMF.

Well forgive me US but you did say "I am suggesting" and "I am envisaging" and so I simply assumed that you would take charge and respond to any queries and or suggestions. I know YOU are not the REMF but you are the Chairman - if there is someone else who is in charge of organising, rallying support and arrangements then let me know who and I'll send my suggestions to them instead, was not heavily involved in the first flag, but was trying to get more involved since I have more time on my hands now, but my offers seem to have fallen on deaf ears...

any help is apprieciated by I wanted to gauge the level of financial support first before making all the enquiries but if needs be I can store the flag and let it out on occassions.

If folded properly how big would a new flag be? And having carried the old one a couple of times what would be it's approximate weight.

The reasoning for my questions is that I do have a understair outdoor cubby hole that is waterproof.

with regards to the missing flag... they say in the above posts they think it was removed from the bag... so if we knew who the building company then we could find out if they removed it from the stadium.... and explain it to them about the flag

I think the time has come to face facts the Flag is gone. Lets move on and I will enquire now into what we can get for £ 600-£ 700 the size available with the same design as before and we can draw up a shortlist of people/places where it could be kept. I will start making enquiries as I think the pledges have dried up just short of £ 700 which is still a good effort.

US - Please take on board some of the comments regarding it being lighter etc as we have offers of a permanent home and it needs less that 4 persons to carry it.

To be perfectly honest (and i'm probably going to get slated for this) - why don't we not have a flag at all? It'll sort the problem of where it's going to stay / who's going to pick it up, put it back etc. As good as the last one was, it wasnt really that worth spending however much we spent on it - was it?

If this thing is for the REMF - then why dont the people who've donated for a flag just donate for the cause of the REMF? £600+ would do a lot for the charity, and for teams abroad / in brighton

Seriously, how about say, 100 blue and 100 white "mini flags" that we all orchestrate into a blue and white stripes montage in the stand (home or away). They could be small enough to fit in a bag, even a manbag, and no problems with storage, transport or cleaning.

Would we expect mini flags to be handed back ?

Excellent idea. Great visual effect, no hassle about storage and transportation. Best of all, no endless inquests about who is, or isn't responsible for whatever they are, or aren't responsible for!

Completely agree - sounds a right winner, until...

Would we expect mini flags to be handed back ?

...you realise that some people will keep them and the number in circulation will diminish and probably rapidly so.
