Guarantee you they'd not give two shits about the side effects if the disease wasn't sexually transmitted - Catholic Church down to a tee. However, if its brought in over here even the Catholic schools won't be able to prevent it being done on the premises - law allows the HSE to sequester schools for vaccination programmes, thankfully.

By sanctioning the jab they chip a little more away of whats left of childhood. The official Catholic line is abstinance until marraige, ideally, but in practice the jab condones underage sex.

Explain this. How does it condone underage sex? Some detail, please.

The virus that can cause Cerviacal Cancer is transmitted by sexual intercourse...... by administering it to 12 year old girls it could be viewed as ecouraging the girls to believe thay are safe from this virus during un-protected sex.
If said virus is transmitted by sexual intercourse what is the best way of avoiding contracting it ?
I hope I have made that clear enough for you ?

Its one of tens to hundreds of viruses that can be transmitted by sexual intercourse.

There is no need to tell said girls that the virus is transmitted that way - although, to be honest, in this day and age they're going to know much more about sex than you'd expect or want them to anyway.

There is no way in hell its going to make 12 year olds think they're any safer than they already believed they were; and the whole 'abstinence is better' attitude is exactly the reason about a third of sub-Saharan Africa is dying of HIV/AIDS at the moment.

Should a HIV vaccine get developed will you oppose it for the same reasons? Do you oppose the state (as I assume they do in the UK as they do here) vaccinating children against the mostly sexually transmitted Hepatitis A and B?

I think the problem which was escaped your notice is , that, a Catholic School, by alowing vaccinations against sexually transmitted diseases to be given in school, would seem to be dis-regarding one of the central planks in its beliefs. Even though they may be at it like f***ing rabbits already, they can't be seen to condone it.

And, as postscript to your point regarding Sub Saharan Africa, are these poor people dying through blood transfusions ? can't recall that they have that many hospitals performing invasive surgery requiring transfusions ?..or is it spread through the air ?.. oh , is it maybe by holding hands ?.. oh maybe its Rats then ?.. no, its mostly spread from unprotected sex.. this leading to infection in the womb leading to so many HIV positive babies...

Way out west
...how do you expect them to control children when many of the bishops and priests are already totally out of control...allegedly!

You've missed my point ENTIRELY.

The Catholic Church refuse to acknowledge the effectiveness or at times the existance of barrier contraception in sub-saharan africa, claiming that abstinence is better. As a result, people ARE HAVING UNPROTECTED SEX. Shoving your head in the sand and pretending a problem doesn't exist isn't going to make it go away.

Oh, and by the way, HIV+ babies are born due to improper birth procedures (and a HIV+ mother). Its also nothing to do with 'infection in the womb', its to do with the mothers blood. HIV doesn't infect parts of your body, seeing as its an immune system virus. You clearly know very little about the subject in question here...

Oh dear oh dear, you are a determined little fellow.. Having unprotected sex with multiple partners encourages the spead of all sorts of diseases. ultimately, the official Catholic line would also be the best scientific way of preventing said diseases.
I am not a Catholic or a prude but I do understand the basic tenet that "you reap what you sow "..... back a long time ago on this thread the point I made was that the Catholic School would be appearing to condone unprotected sex by approving of these injections.
As for the rest of your diatribe, life really is to short to waste on explaining to you any further.
thank you and goodnight:bigwave:

Explaining? You've explained nothing, other than to blindly claim that vaccinating someone against one of many possible STDs will encourage them to become slappers; as well as showing a blindly ignorance of a disease which I'd hope that everyone these days understood.

Allowing this vaccine only 'condones' unprotected sex in the closed mind of someone living in the past. And anyway, isn't the Catholic Church all for unprotected sex? (albeit with a married partner). No babies with barrier protection...

You can preach abstinence all you like, but unless you're a perfect human (I doubt it, anyone) you have to realise it isn't exactly going to be stuck to 100%, seeing as it's an urge that's kept the entire process of evolution going.

Therefore, any refusal to go to every length to immunise/protect (alongside whatever teachings you choose to give) can only be interpreted as
a) a lack of caring and a refusal to admit the obvious, or
b) a statement that those who don't listen deserve cancer (or HIV in the example of sub-Saharan Africa).

Just baffling.

The condoning sex argument is a loads of old bull if you ask me STIs is not the only way you can get cervical cancer, other ways include – smoking, weakened immune system, how many children you have and at what age and the contraceptive pill. I think the school is wrong, they vaccinate against many things in schools why not this.
