so in what order would people rate the evilest religions?

opinions people, come on...

It's pretty obviously who most people would rate isn't it ? Still if you say the 'M' word the PC brigade will get on their high horses. Personally I find various sects within the Christain religion disgusting trhat's to their double standards and sheer hypocracy.

Religion is not for me. I particularly don't like the way it is pushed down people's throats. However, it shouldn't be banned as this would be just as bad.

If people want to believe in spiritual things that's up to them. Religion is not responsible for violence, it's people wanting to impose their will on others

extremists are only extreme because their views are not the norm. Christianity must have been EXTREME back in the day, but it's been widely "accepted" for many moons. Imagine if a middle-eastern religion had won. Then bible-bashers would be the ones who were "nutters" but I still don't know if they'd go as far as terriorism.

People in most religions tend, or so it seems to me, to pick out the bits of that faith that suit them best and ignore that ones that don't fit in.
"I stand against murderousness, of course, but i'm not sure i can go cold turkey on my ox-coveting just yet."

Which seems a little silly. but if it gets people by and i never have to hear too much about it, then it's fine by me.

true true.

maybe would should invent something new to replace religion and we can make the rules so when all the extremists nutbars get onboard we can give them GOOD orders and make them nice, loving, caring human beings.

Yeah, we could get them to shine our shoes and make us tea stuff? Makes them our slave like. BRILLIANT idea RAPH:)

people kill because the want to not because of any god telling them. religion is just an excuse they use to piss others off. thats about like finding religion in prison. i dont think personally that is the case. time off w/good behavior is the reason for the sudden found faith.

pesonally if religion makes you feel good then believe in what ever you want to believe in . whether its a super natural being or in yourself.

What I don't like about religious followers is the incredible ARROGANCE of it all. It doesn't matter which religious leader you listen to, the fact is that according to them, they are right and everybody else is wrong.

And it's something I've always meant to ask - how do religious leaders explain the existence of different religions and how come they are broadly geographically centred? i.e. how come most people in the middle east and NAfrica are muslim, and in Europe / the Americas are Christian / Hindu in India etc? Surely if just one of these religions was right, you'd have believers springing up all over the place fairly randomly.

It couldn't be that people just believe what they're told in any particular area then? ???

I've just been told that the evilest religion is socialism and that it should be outlawed IMMEDIATLY and without question.

This could be a good starting point for the outlawing religions? Thoughts?

You've asked the wrong question. I voted "no", and I can't stand religion.

But it shouldn't be outlawed. Ridiculed yes, but not banned.

Absolutely agree. We ought to be rid of all these silly and childish ideas that still permeate are societies and hold us all back. But you can't force belief out of people, it won't work, it just pushes it underground and breeds resentment and violence. Only through educating people to be rational, critical thinkers can we make progress.
As christian friend of mine used to say "I ought to take you outside and beat the fear of god into you."

People say religion is the world's most prolific serial killer because of the violence that is causes. Many disputes erupt because of clashes of faith.

Would the world be a better place without religion? Should it be outlawed?

Most so-called religious wars tend to be caused by one person's attempt to prevent another person from practising their religion. If you want to start the bloodiest war imaginable, try to outlaw religion.

A religion is just a kind of belief system, and as we all have a belief system (or, rather, usually a set of belief systems) then, unless we wold deny the right of ourselves to hold any belief, then we should not attack another's right to that belief. Question the belief, perhaps (but not ridicule, hate, or anything like that) - but don't question the right to belief, otherwise we are all f***ed.
