When I first started watching the Albion we had promoted once (before my time) and not yet relegated for the first time.

The recent specialists have been Brighton and Hove Albion, promoted ten times and relegated on nine occasions since 1958. That included five changes of division (three up, two down) in six seasons between 2001 and 2006. Middlesbrough were promoted or relegated ten times between 1982 and 1998.

For my formative years watching the Albion it was Division 3 for 14 years or so with just one season floundering at the bottom of Division 2.

The worst thing was the season was usually over by October, without the play-offs and just a non-existent Cup run to look forward to. We hadn't beaten a top club until we finally made it after 43 years so that was a forlorn hope. We rarely made Round 3.

We never sold any players back then. Nobody wanted them!

In the last 15 years:

Four promotions
Two failed play-off's
Two relegations
Two last day of the season relegation escapes.

Three grounds.

Never a dull moment.
