On official site. mentions he didnt realise how big the club was quite alot, reckon we'll ever sign Harding as seems like hes desperate to play for us!

Paul Reid may have only just arrived at the club, but has already admitted he hopes to earn a longer contract with the Seagulls - and extend his stay on the south coast past the end of the current season.

Albion's deadline-day signing told Seagulls World, "I've initially only signed until the end of the season, but my main plan is to play as many games as I can; try to impress at training; and hopefully secure a contract for next season."

Former Australian under-20 international Reid is a close friend of Bradford's Brighton-born midfielder Michael Standing. The pair lived around the corner from one another in Bradford - and former Albion youth team player Standing gave his home-town club a glowing reference.

"The main thing he said was that I won't realise how big the club is until I actually play for them," Reid explained. "A lot of people don't realise how big the club is, and when you come down here you think that Brighton isn't that huge. He keeps telling me how big the club is."

Reid joins Albion on a free transfer from First Division Bradford City, and will be available for the weekend trip to Sheffield Wednesday. However, with the Seagulls currently enjoying a seven-game unbeaten run, he is under no illusions and fully expects a tough battle for places in the starting line up.

He said, "It's a big game [against Sheffield Wednesday] and they always get big crowds - I think there'll be about 20,000. Hopefully I can get onto the bench and make an impression from there."

Reid was spotted playing for Bradford City's reserves by Dean White; the Albion's reserve team coach was on a scouting mission with Chairman Dick Knight, to watch recent acquisition Chris Iwelumo in action for Stoke's reserves.

Bradford brought Reid to England from Australian side Woologong Wolves, at the start of the 2002/03 season. He made seven appearances for the Bantams, last season, scoring two goals - but found his campaign curtailed by toe and ankle injuries. He signed a new one-year contract with Bradford in the summer, but first-team chances have not been forthcoming this season at Valley Parade.

"The game here is a lot different to Australia," Reid continued. "There it's not overly professional. here, the pace is a lot quicker and it's a lot more physical, but I've come to terms with those conditions and so now hopefully I can secure a first team place for Brighton, and help them get into the play-offs."
