Redundancy

Just went to work this morning to be made redundant

if it wasn't for a mortgage to pay and a wife and son to provide for I'd be over the moon to be honest

I've bloody had it with working for other people, the broken promises, the bullshit, the company politics, bla bla bla.

So I want to start working for myself, so if anyone needs a Survey/design engineering drawing service, predominantly mechanically biased ( and a few house extensions!) I've got nearly 20 years experience can sketch/draught by hand, use ACAD 2006 and Slidworks 2006 and will be available as of tomorrow !

its a shame the weathers so good really

Good luck Zef... it happened to me last year... after 21 years... really enjoying being self-employed, working on short-term contracts in a range of places. No politics, no bullshit, just get on with the work and get reasonably well paid for it.

thanks mate, I've been thinking about doing this for about 5 years now, its just getting a foot in the door of contracting, and I'll be off. it would suit me perfectly as in between contracts I could do my car stuff to get my petroleum fix !

Sorry to hear that Zef. Good luck with working for yourself - it's good being your own boss.

Unlucky Zef, hope it all works out for you. Sometimes it can be the "push" you need, and works out better in the long run.

Sorry to hear that Zefarelly - but it sounds like you've already seen some possible positives. If you weren't enjoying the environment, might prove one of the best things that happened to you. All the best with your freelance efforts.

Sorry to hear this Zef but it may actually be a blessing in disguise as you seem keen to be self-employed.

Best of luck

Good luck.

It's not nice being made redundant. I however look on it that it was probably the best thing that happended to me !!!

I was with BA for 10 years and was made redundant. I was lucky in that I got a years pay.

I spent it wisely on training and set up my own business and love every minute of it. It's so nice not having to work for yourself, answer to anyone, internal politics etc etc.

Believe you me, you will look back one day and be thankful you were made redundant.

Sorry to hear that and have been there myself a few years ago.

The good thing is that you are looking at this positively - most people I know who have been made redundant and taken the oportunity to review their careers have changed for the best.

Hope it works out for you.
