Did anyone actually see what happened, and was it actually a red card in the first place? I missed it completely.

I saw them come together, but didn't see where Gallen had his hands

straight red for Violent Conduct so ref must have been fairly certain...

The commentary said that McShane was elbowed in the face. Raise your arms and it means red.

I've seen the video replay

It was a swung punch in the face - sort of a round armed slap with a clenched fist

Had to go - McShane did nowt wrong

McShane...so amazed that Dodd was in the ground let alone on the pitch, thought he saw a hot dog in Gallens hand...needing a quick fill-me-up to keep him going through this relegation mess he headed forth onto the clenched hand of Gallen. Unfortunatley he had'nt been to Specsavers that morning and ran straight into the hand and as he fell he realised it was no hot dog but Gallens cock, the resulting outcry led the ref to belive that Gallen was trying to force McShane into giving him a blowwy and he was sent forth from the green turf. Qpr 10 - Brighton 11

That is what I thought had happened - the referee made an instant decision and straight red.

Shame those other QPR players had to goad McShane afterwards.

Don't know why but I happened to be not watching the ball at the time so saw the whole thing! They had a bit of a tussle seconds before and then Gallen just lashed out at him. Seemed to be a case of completely losing it. Very bizarre, and definitely the right decision to send him off. Only one the ref got right today though.

He should have thought about that before swinging a punch at McShane.

Was there. Saw him throw his arm up and met Mcshane's face. Thought the ref had no choice but a red card. However, the ref should have sent El Abd after his second wild challenge. Instead the Ref gave him a stern talking . Think that's what upset QPR and why they reacted so angrily to the sending off.

Paul McShane was public enemy number one yesterday at Loftus Road, but amazingly he says he enjoyed the experience!

The on-loan Manchester United defender incurred the wrath of the home fans after being involved in an off-the-ball incident with Kevin Gallen.

The R's captain was sent off for his part, leading to McShane receiving hysterical booing from the crowd every time he touched the ball.

"It was quite an experience!" McShane admitted. "The crowd took a bit of a dislike to me after Gallen got sent off but you expect that.

"I didn't play act. He hit me - a punch in the eye - and I went down. They didn't like that.

"I have experienced that sort of reaction before. When I was on loan to Walsall we played Brentford and I took one of their best players out after 20 minutes and I got it for the whole game there.

"It's always good experience to come through those sorts of games and I relish that sort of stuff. I like the bad guys in films and it's great to be one of them!

"Growing up as a Manchester United player you encounter jealousy quite regularly, but it's totally different when 14,000 people are on your back! That's part of football though and it's great!

"You have to just keep playing. If you bottle it then the crowd have won. The moment it happened I just tried to get on the ball as quick as I could and get the first initial 'boo' over, because I knew it was coming."

Paul McShane

Sheffield Wednesday's win over Preston means that Albion are now seven points adrift of the Owls in the fourth-from-bottom spot, and while McShane was able to deal with the personal abuse on Saturday, he says the team is beginning to feel the pressure at the foot of the table.

"I've always said since I've been here that I can see us getting out of it. I train with the lads every day and I see their attitude. I can also see that we can play football and we have just been unlucky. It may sound like a broken record but that is genuinely the situation.

"The pressure is building, but it is great for the young lads at this club to be able to deal with this pressure and to be able to deal with the dressing room situations.

"At half-time we got a real going over from Bob Booker and I think that is great to see. Bob was really passionate and it shows that a lot of people at the club really care about our position.

"There is pressure but football is a high-pressure job. That is what you sign up for and the more pressure the better really."
