After months of waiting it seems like we will finally be exchanging contracts to buy a house in Hove in next couple of weeks so we want to start planning the work that needs doing to it.

Can anyone recommend any local firm for the following:

• Bathroom supplier & installer
• Double glazing and/or conservatory
• Architect
• Kitchen supplier & installer
• Builder for mainly internal remodelling

Not all of this will we be doing at once, but thought I might as well ask about all upfront!

If you can possibly afford to, avoid plastic double glazing. Wood is more expensive and needs maintenance every few years but looks and feel much nicer and always has a stronger effect on the value of the house. It depends on the house of course but an agent told me recently that for many properties plastic glazing will at best not reduce the value of a property and in some cases will knock it back.
