Recommendations for breakfasts in Sussex

Okay, following the trend for restaurant and ethnic food suggestions, I am looking for recommendations now - for the best BREAKFAST FRY-UP place.

NOT greasy flaoting-in-fat-and-oil, NO burned edges on fried eggs, NO microwaved pre-prepared fare, and not stodgy fagash-lil roadside caffs for truckers UNLESS they are top notch.

I'm looking for clean, tasty, and quality food and surroundings, please.

Don't know what it is called, but I had an all-day breakfast at a little place on the industrial estate at Ditchling Common...was a few years ago but I remember it as being particularly tasty and I am someone who normally gives that sort of stuff a very wide berth.

No! No! No!

Expensive, mean, poncey-noncey, sausage-free, middle-class tosh-nosh. And the staff (or at least the management) are f***ing rude.

No fence-sitting when it comes to scran.

:)

And you're in the wrong road... :p

I expected you to say something along those lines :D It is quite pricey, but I have always found the food to be good. They offer a decent range of smoothies/fruit juices, some rather attractive waitresses and it is well placed for a meander through North Laine.

I corrected the road after I realised my mistake  .

And you have to queue.

And they can't even make a decent eggs benedict without throwing a load of f***ing salad leaves all over it.

And it's over priced.

And you feel pressured to finish as there's always people in line right next to you waiting for you to finish.

f*** Bills, go to Daves Diner on Lewes Road by the Gyratory.

They did have an offer for a mega gutbuster that if you ate it all you got a voucher for free one but the snag was, included on the breakfast was, Bubble, Chips and fried potatoes thats 3 types of potatoes, which nobody ever has and also Fried Slice and Toast and B & B.

An old cafe owner once told me that to sell a good breakfast you must have decent bacon sausages and tea the rest could be cheapy rubbish and your breakfasts would still sell. Thinking about it he is probably right.

Agree - decent bacon and sausages are a MUST!
The breakfast at the County Ground yesterday was very commendable.

Egg has to be done right also, but nobodies going to notice if its wholesale battery eggs or posh free range stuff, as long as its not cold/blackened/etc.

I can point out 1 not to visit, unless it has changed hands in the last 12 months.
The small one on the Bolney Industrial Estate. I went in there and the lady openly used Tesco Cheap bread, Blue and White Beans Tomatoes, margarine economy sausages the lot. It was all on show behind the counter and the price of the breakfast was definitely not Tesco Blue and White.

Capers is good. Went to a place at the bottom of Trafalgar street a couple of weeks back and that was pretty good.

Everywhere
daves is good, don't use the best ingredients (happy shopper bread) but its good honest well priced scran. I would choose that over any of these places that offer "smoothies" and the like.
Each to there own I guess.

FAO Ben' Grandad: Shut up you tart. :tosser:This thread is about recommendations for Breakfast in Sussex, not the ones that are not worth visiting.

For a quality English breakfast check out the HideAway cafe in the Lanes. Definitely the way forward.
